Civil society prize “identity, European values and cultural heritage in Europe”

We are calling for a civil society vote “identity, European values and cultural heritage in Europe”.
The European Economic and Social Committee, with the 2018 Prize, wants to honour innovative initiatives which have made a significant contribution to addressing the following challenges:

  • raising awareness of the multilingualism and wealth of European identities;
  • make full use of the opportunities created by European cultural wealth;
  • facilitate access to European cultural heritage;
  • promoting European values, such as respect for human dignity and human rights, freedom, democracy, equality and the rule of law.

Overall EUR 50 000 No more than five winners will be assigned. Deadline for submission of applications is 7 September 2018and the award ceremony will be held on 13 December 2018 in Brussels. THE EESC's award for civil society can be obtained by all civil society organisations which are officially registered in the European Union and operate at local, national, regional or European level. The award can also be awarded to private individuals.

The award for civil society has been awarded for the tenth year. It was created BY THE EESC to recognise and support concrete initiatives and successes by civil society organisations and/or individuals who contributed significantly to promoting shared values that support European cohesion and integration
