In the regional final, the performance of children was evaluated by the jury: reading skills for professional evaluation of the prototypes – the Central Libraries of Rezekne: the leader Maria Sproge, her deputy Ruth Suseum, the oldest bibliography, and the newspaper “local Latgale newspaper” of the regional newspaper “local Latgale newspaper”, and the journalist of the regional newspaper “local Latgale newspaper”. The jury's detailed questionnaire filling was not easy because it had to assess both the expression and the voice nuance, the justification for the selection of fragments, and many other things, but the total number of points counted as a result illuminated the following scene: the crown with the logo of activity was placed in the head for Cynthia Diana Potapoo from Maltas secondary school, 2 nd place for Annie Estonia from Vērēmu primary school, and 3 rd place, Christian green from Viļānu secondary school. The 1 st place winner had a 13-point overweight, 2 nd and 3 rd place, among others, only a few points, so that there was no discussion on the winner.
Cynthia admitted, after the event, that she had been worried, but she had dreamed of 1 st in her heart. She is an active reader, but she likes both Latvian and mathematics. In the first round of the selection, she read another piece of the book, but this choice was helped by the librarian Antoņina Krūza, and a special thank-you to the teacher Nelly Krasnobai. In conclusion, the girl admitted that she had not yet thought about the final in Riga, there were two more months: “I think i might even better!” We also wish it, but only do not try, because indeed, only a natural, courageous message and the ability to interest the listeners are the purpose of this competition.
The organizer's Special Prize was also given (two tickets to cinema) – it was received by Janis Ranāns, a prize from the Central Library of Rezekne – Maris Tadeushev, the event curator Special prize – Agrita Berzins, but all participants received thanks articles and small memorial prizes and honour may be called FIRST reading champions in their schools! Similarly, thanks_to the schools and libraries supported by this activity.
Thank you for the performances in the introduction to the events – the Eastern Latgale creative service centre '' Zeimuļs' 'contemporary dance group' 'Shadow Queens' (teacher Anna Zmeikina) and the participants of the 5 th high school Ruth Dortal Theatre of Ojar's Germans' poetry reading roles. However, thank you: both the organisers of the competition and all the responsive and courageous pupils, teachers and librarians for the work they have done, both the regional coordinator and the small final manager, Zenta Ruskule, and the jury, whose work is really complicated, because it is difficult to assess children who are particularly prepared and remain in memory of something of their own! Similarly, thanks to the supporters, particularly in a multi-numerical and thoughtful manner (even with pins in the form of a city symbol), they were Viļānu for high school! From the reading, seen, the acquaintances, undoubtedly, are all!
In the final, the 30 best-selected readers will meet in Riga on May 12. Each competitor will read a fragment from the selected book and another one from another, previously unknown book that will be given to him in the final. A popular artist or group of musicians will appear among the reading sessions. The National Reading Champion will receive an official trophy (cup) for the school that goes on next year. He will also receive individual prizes and gift cards that can be used to purchase books. The National Reading Champion will be appointed as the children's director of the National Library of Latvia for a year – inspired, informs the organisers.
