Education

In a sunny autumn day, on 20 October, THE 1 TP26T Pre-school Educational Authority (PII) collective took guests from the entire large Rēzekne municipality to share experience. 2015/2016.m Griškānu PII, together with the Infjarden (Sweden) municipal kindergartens, implemented the Nord plus project “Be Active, be Creative, be in Nature!” and could also share its good practice during the project implementation.

For the second year of school, our pre-school educational institutions are working on priorities: “the creation and systematic strengthening of children's self-sufficiency and self-service skills in both toys and non-activities.” This topic was also updated in an exchange of experience seminars.

Griškānu PII teachers, within the framework of the project, had the opportunity to observe the work of Swedish teachers and the organisation of training and education work. A valuable experience has been gained, which at the time of the implementation of the project, the institution's team started to implement daily work with children and continues to work with good progress at this time to better develop children's self-sufficiency and self-service skills.

Manager Svetlana Khalifa introduced the kindergarten, showed children's playgrounds and indoors, and talked about the active involvement of kindergartens in various projects and the benefits of this activity.

Visitors were given the opportunity to participate in the open activities and observe different times of the day. The work of children showed very well how much has been achieved in the development of children's self-sufficiency and self-service skills. The head of the institution stressed that, in order to achieve good results, the entire body of the institution is required to operate in the team and to cooperate with the parents. An older video was shown where the family shows children's self-sufficiency at home, as the work carried out in an educational institution is also continued in families, thus reinforcing the skills of children.

The first “work fruit” was also seen from the work of the Rēzekne municipality in the project “Global Schools”, as the teacher, Inga Oltina, was allowed to observe how successful it was to work with the themes of global education in the four-year-old group.

In contrast, in the lessons of the teacher Natalia Mednes, teachers were able to observe a real-life masterclass of children. In this way, working with children is developing such essential skills as the ability to take responsibility, the ability to make a decision independently. These valuable skills develop the personality of the child and will be the basis for every pre-school life.

The teacher Ineta Lipska shared the experience of continuing cooperation with the already existing Swedish partners, only this time by engaging in the implementation of the eTwinning project. All the present were encouraged to take a safe step and try to engage in E-Twinning projects, as it is a very valuable work with children, both for the search for information and for the exchange of children and teachers' thoughts with partners – children and teachers.

At the end of the visit, teachers were invited to a discussion on what they had seen and expressed their opinion on new initiatives to be used in their pedagogical work and when they left their institutions to tell colleagues. In the joint negotiations, which also took place IN Griškānu parish management head Janis Alexanis, the institutions' collective listened to the gratitude of the visitor for the new ideas. There was a conviction that many teachers would also try to realize some of them in their pre-school educational institutions. To succeed!

Every exchange of such experience makes it possible to see how colleagues are working, even in the municipality, and also beyond the boundaries of the municipality. As early as December, the teachers of the Rēzekne municipality will go on an experience exchange trip to the PII “fairy” of the Preiles. Such exchanges of experience provide an opportunity to observe good practice, extend the vision of teachers and the revitalisation of the ideas gained in their practice, making it more interesting and attractive for children to attend a daily educational institution.

Thank YOU FOR THE creativity of Griškānu PII for the work you have invested and the unwillingness to promote your work!

Biruta Rephen,
Rezekne Municipality Pre-school Educational Specialist
