Annual Latgale tourism conference

On November 10, the annual Latgale Tourism conference held AT THE Lūznavas manor on the Latgale tourism association “Ezerland” was gathered by more than 100 tourist professionals in the region to look back to the spent tourism season and to draw new inspiring ideas for further work.
The Chairman of the Board of the Latgale Tourism Association “Ezerland”, Kondrats, provided an analysis of the trends of the tourism season, indicating that there was a positive dynamics of foreign tourist growth. Inese Šīrava, head of the Latvian Investment Development Agency Tourism Department, provided an insight into the development of Latvian tourism, indicating that the work will be directed towards the development of local tourism and to encourage more travel by inland tourists in Latvia. The commercial activity consultant of Latgale Planning Region Latgale Business Support Centre, Andris Kucins, informed about the opportunities for attracting tourism business environment development and financing instruments. Professor of Vidzeme High School, researcher, member of Latvian economist association Dr oec. Agita Livina, on the basis of the studies carried out, provided professional advice on how to maintain, develop and involve authentic values in the tourist business. Regina Indriķe, head of the Nature Education Centre of Latgale Regional Administration of Latgale, said about natural tourism and environmental availability in specially protected natural areas in Latgale. In the role of Latgale Tourism Conference, he was a member of the Board of Kurzeme Tourism Association, the owner of the “raibie logi” hotel (Ventspils), who, by updating the problems of the industry, encouraged the conference participants' discussions.
This year, the rural tourism association “rural traveller” also participated in the organisation of the Latgale tourism conference. In part 2 of the conference, “Rural traveller”, President Asnate Ziemele, analysing the statistics, trends and activities of 2017, gave an insight into the association's actuarial events and informed about the 2018 plans. A representative of the “rural traveller” and a tourism expert, Juris Smaļinskis, talked about the heritage of agriculture, crafts, fisheries, etc. in Agro tourism. The historian of the Kandavas municipality, Agris dzenis, turned to the heritage of agricultural traditions in Latvia, telling about the possibilities to use it in the formation of tourism offers.
At the end of the conference, prizes were given in 6 nominations, summing up the best Latgale tourism in 2017. On the winners of this year, the “best tourist accommodation in the countryside 2017” became a recreational complex “Lojasedges” (Auleja parish, Kraslava municipality), “the best tourist accommodation in the city 2017” – a recreational complex “Sanmari” (Daugavpils), “the best new tourism object 2017” - the salon “Pelnruplate dreams” (Ludzas municipality), “Innovative tourism product 2017” – North Latgale 5 environment installation objects: rugar – “loba doba”, “Karvi –“ fire ”, Balvos –“ loba ”, Balvi –“ air ”, Vilaka –“ water ”, Balvi –“ air ”,“ tourism information centre 2017 ”, Balvi –“ water ”, Balvi –“ air ”,“ tourism information centre 2017 ”, Balvi –“ water ”, Balvi –“ air ”,“ tourism information centre 2017 ”, Balvi –“ water ”, Balvi –“ air ”,“ tourism information centre 2017 ”, Balvi –“ water ”, Balvi –“ air ”,“ tourism information centre 2017 ”, Balvi –“ water ”, Balvi –“ air ”,“ Tourism Information Centre 2017 ”– Rēzekne city tourism development centre. The sympathy prize was won by Latgale poet and a long-time tourist guide Anna Rancāne. All the nominators took the wooden clocks made by Master John's finder (Varkava municipality).
The events were organised by Latgale tourism association Ezerland with support and co-financing by THE LATVIAN Tourism Department and Latgale municipalities. Part 2 of the Latgale Tourism Conference is organised by the rural traveller within the framework of the project “Agricultural traditions heritage in Agro tourism in Latvia and Lithuania” financed by the European Union Interreg Latvia - Lithuania programme 2014-2020.
