Razna Lake will have cane mowers
In January 2015, the “Coast 1” project “Improving and developing the quality of fisheries services” was supported, which was presented in the framework of the activities of the European Fisheries Fund (EFF) measure “implementation of territorial development strategies” within the framework of “development of fisheries and tourism-related small-scale infrastructure and services”. The project was submitted to the “Rēzekne District Communities Partnership”. Within the framework of the project, the association, in collaboration with the municipality of Rezekne, will acquire two bundles of cane mowers (a motorboat with a cane mower and a ditch and a trailer for the transportation of boats).
The aim of the project is to improve and develop the quality of fisheries and tourism-related services.
Lake Razna is an attractive and important tourist object not only for the municipality of Rezekne but also for Latvia. The rapid growth of the lake with canes has a dangerous impact on tourism development and the introduction of new services. The implementation of the project will result in a topical cutting of the cane on the banks OF Razna Lake Mākoņkalna, Kaunatas and Čornajas (also IN Lūznavas parish, if necessary) parish on the banks of Lake Razna. The aid to the project has been expressed by entrepreneurs and private persons living in the banks of Lake Razna. The cutting of cane will enable citizens to make greater use of tourism-related tourism services provided by local tourism entrepreneurs, promote the development of active recreational and tourism in the region, improve and develop the quality of fisheries and tourism-related services. It will also be possible to use the cane mower to work in other lakes of Rezekne. Any cane mowing will require a written agreement with the management of nature protection.
The total budget of the project is EUR 26842.69, of which THE EFS public funding is 90% - 24158.41 EURO, co-financing of the municipality of Rezekne – 21473.73 EURO.
