Expert discussion was held at Rezekne High School

On August 21, an expert discussion was held at Rēzekne High School (RA) “The main accents of the Rēzekne Higher School Development Strategy in the context of the future vision of Latgale region”.
The Minister for Environmental Protection and Regional Development Kaspars Gerhards, former Minister of Education and Science, Jānis Vaivads, Chairman of the Board of Governors of SIA “Eurocounsellor” and Chairman of the European Union of Latvia Andris Jaunsleinis, academics and co-operatives took part in it.
In the discussion, Rēzekne High School rector Edmunds Turumnieks gave an insight into the activities of the institution of higher education, Chairman of the Rēzekne municipality council, Chairman OF the Consultative Convention of the University of Rezekne, Monvīds Švarcs emphasized the positive co-operation between the university and the Rezekne municipality, while the head of the Latgale Planning Region Administration Iveta Kalina-Tahne emphasized the extremely high importance of the institution of higher education in the region. Chairman of the Board of SIA “Verems” Janis Staris expressed suggestions for improvement of study programmes and improvement of quality.
Minister for Environmental Protection and Regional Development Kaspars Gerhards stated: “Rezekne High School is an important centre for education and science not only in Latgale but also throughout Latvia. The technological direction chosen by the institution of higher education is legal because the infrastructure, the materials and the technical base allow the development of highly qualified specialists. '
The discussion on the balancing of the demand of specialists for the labour market and the strengthening of links between entrepreneurs was raised on several occasions.
