In 1959, the Rēzekne branch of the Central School of Business Art was launched, now serving as the Rēzekne Art and Design Secondary School, a significant and important centre for Eastern Latvian culture and education. 2014 - Secondary Schools of Art and Design of Rezekne change visually, continue to improve traditions, implement innovation in the world of art and design.
Celebrating the 55 th anniversary of the school, on 28 November at 11.00 The international conference “Rēzekne Arts and Design Secondary School for Creative Latgale and the world '' is devoted to trends in creative industries and the importance of cultural education institutions in shaping the foundations of this industry. Young people must therefore be encouraged to choose the creative professions that are being assessed globally. The conference will include former school graduates – not only in Latvia, but world-wide artists and designers: fashion designer Indra Salisvičs, designer Reno Lazdins, Textile maker Roland Krutov, artist Magone Boleiko. The architect, the Eastern Latvian concert hall“ Gors' 'author Uldis Balodis ”will discuss the trends and location of the urban design and architecture of Rezekne in the European architectural space, the art historian Evija Vasilevska will look at Latgale's pottery development, the art scientist Ingrida Burāne - in the art processes. There will be visitors from Daugavpils Mark Rootko art centre and Lithuanian city Utenas. The conference will be held in the Rēzekne Arts and Design Secondary School.
On Saturday, November 29, at 16.00 graduates, existing and former teachers, employees and students are expected to attend the anniversary event.
The new book, “Rēzekne Arts and Design Secondary School in creative industries”, will also be told about the school, its graduates and teachers.
