The October sound was accompanied by an exchange of experience by THE LLCC Rēzekne Consultation Office on farms in the eagle, Madona and Varakalans region, which are active in the sheep sector. Not only did Rezekne, but also the nearby leads.
Dmitry Bortnikov, who is not only the owner of SIA “3D Development”, but also Chairman of the Latvian Association of Ovine Breeders, welcomed the participants of the eagle municipality. First, the farmer presented the company's activities, then explained in detail the sheep feeding, the grouping, the various sheep diseases, shared his experience on the projects carried out on the farm and demonstrated the farm equipment for sheep weighing and nail care. In conclusion of the farm visit, discussions took place on the situation of sheep farming in the country – opportunities for the marketing of sheep products and the tasks of the Latvian sheep association.
Dzintra Karavaichuk, owner of SIA “TD gum”, took place in the municipality of Madona municipality. At first, the housewife proudly showed the cattle of Galoway breed that the landlord had enjoyed because of their calm nature. The participants also had the opportunity to see sheep of different varieties, including small Soji sheep, which do not require large farmers' attention on a daily basis. The housekeeper showed his farm equipment and responded kindly to the questions of the participants. She shared the experience of rural tourism, which is the main source of profit for “TD gum”.
Ilmārs Gruduls, a member of THE Murmasten parish, Murmasten parish z/s “Krums”, who deals not only with grain and sheep farming, but also a LLCC advisor on milk quality issues. The landlord told the participants how the sheep farming moved to sheep farming, showing their herds and sheep. He shared the information on sheep feeding, care, disease containment and the marketing of meat. The farmer also provided advice on the nutrients and vitamins needed for lambs and their importance in the development of lambs.
On the visits to the bus, there was no debate on sheep-farming, so i would like to believe that every member of the journey gained both the motivation to improve his skills in sheep-farming and go ahead and some valuable advice!
In view of the comments of the participants, THE LLCC Rēzekne Consultation Bureau was organising the next visit to the farm on 14 November. This time we will go to Nereta's municipality and have knowledge of the production and marketing of meat cattle. More information and login by phone 26588672 or by e-mail kristiana.latkovska@llkc.lv.
Farm visits were provided under the “Knowledge Transfer and Information Activities” sub-measure “Knowledge Transfer and Information Activities” of the Latvian Rural Development Programme (RDP) 2014-2020, IN the framework OF THE LAD Contract No. LAD011018/P43.
