Rēzekne municipality council accepted the construction of motorway A12 (E22) Rēzekne – Ludza construction at new route

On 17 December, the Rēzekne municipality council accepted the activities of VAS “Latvian State Roads” “Road A12 (E22)“ Jçkabpils – Rezekne – Ludza – Construction of the Russian border (Terehova) in Rēzekne – Ludza construction in a new route ”. The intended activity is planned in the municipality of Rezekne and Ludza. Section 12 of the motorway passes the administrative territories OF THE Rēzekne municipality Vērēmu and Griškānu parish and Ludza District Cirma and Isnaudas parish.

The project envisages a small reconstruction of the A12 route of the existing road (from 100.69 km to 106.00 km) and the rest of the route in a completely new location, offering two alternative route placement options. The new route of the construction OF the A12 motorway is planned from 100.69 km to 133.00 km. The new road link at the end of the route would be connected to an existing local motorway v544 Ludza-Nirza-Vecsloboda, which is planned to be designed as a continuation of the national road A12.

The intended activity for which environmental impact assessment has been carried out is the second round of the A12 Rēzekne-Ludza improvement and development. In particular, the construction of A12 motorway in a new route between 100,69 km and 133,00 km with the aim of descending the city of Ludza from intensive traffic (Ludza bypass).
