For young people

It is interesting to live in the countryside, it claimed the 6 th - 9 th grade school students of the Rēzekne municipality. How much such confidence is in each of the children should be asked separately. It is precisely the perception of the children of this school that thinking about the question referred might be different from other rural schools. Most students live in a small parish with a densely populated village created in the late fifties of the 20 th century as a peat factory centre. There are only less than 500 ha of the parish area in agriculture, so there is little in the farm. Therefore, the relatively good knowledge of pupils on the questions asked was amazed.
In order to understand the overall level of knowledge of the pupils on the field, the question was first asked, then details, explanation. Something about straw. It is like a very simple, even uneven product, but the use is broad enough – litter, fuel, fertilizer, fodder, plant-growing material, building insulation. But rice straw is used as a raw material for bags, hats, even shoes. The highest number of options was in response to the average yield per cow per year in Latvia. We talked about the fact that it is not right to name the cow in the name of a man. In the past, the cows did not have the names of the birds. It was popular to give the name after the day of the week – Pirmaa, Otails, Tresha, Cecula, Fifth, Sixth. By color (Double, Brien, Vabule) and signs (Slaune, Star). Traditionally, the question has been asked why the bulls are used in red-coloured cloth if the cattle do not distinguish the colours. This topic was very interesting, like the ones that animals see or do not see how colors are distinguished, questions about animal behaviour, communication.
The activity is particularly pronounced by boys. Adding all the points you won had to ask additional questions to find out the best. Arnolds Anufrijevs, Emile Kapacis, Elgar Razgalis, Marika Valdis Ulyjanov knew almost every question.
The information event at the New Junning School took place within the framework of the national rural network activity “information measures for young people and pupils” within the framework of “Promotion of the agricultural and forestry sector in general educational schools”.
In the interest of pupils' interest in the agricultural sector, which was also the target of the measure, the subject was adapted according to the age of pupils, so that the information contained exactly interesting facts. A small insight was also given to the subject of entrepreneurship, which forms of business are and could be in rural areas.
When they started a conversation with pupils, the children were asked not to shy out of it if they didn't know. The chief is the desire to know, to listen, to talk.
