Municipality of Rezekne municipality purchased electromobility

Before Christmas, the municipality of Rezekne gave itself an unusual and environmentally friendly gift – the electromobility “Volkswagen E-UP”, which will contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the transport sector, promote the role of electric cars among the local population, and contribute to the reduction of the use of fossil fuels.

The new car was purchased by implementing the Latvian Environment Investment Fund project “Reducing greenhouse gas emissions by purchasing a new, industrially produced electric cell for the municipality of Rezekne”. The electromobility was supplied BY SIA “Moller auto Latvia”. The cost of purchasing the car was EUR 28 910, including EUR 18 500, the co-financing of the climate change financial instrument. The new car is intended to be used by Jānis Volks and Kristaps Kalva, head of the municipality of Rezekne, in order to be more convenient and environmentally friendly to go to construction sites in the local government area.

The small car is equipped with an automatic transmission. It is very dynamic, fast-running and easy to manoeuvre. As the Chief of the Rēzekne council said, who had already tried the new truck, it was harder to get used to the silence, as the modern electric motor was so quiet that it was even difficult to hear whether the machine had been started at all.

Rēzeknes novada pašvaldības projektu vadītāja Inga Zapāne stāsta par elektromobiliWhen presenting the newly acquired electromobility, Rēzekne Municipality Project manager Inga Zapāne said that the purchase of the car will definitely pay off because its operation is very economical: “Volkswagen E-UP” consumes 11.7 kWh/100 km, which cost approximately 1.85 EUR or as much as 1.5 litres of fuel. The service and maintenance costs for electric cars are also lower than for internal combustion engines. '

The charging of the car will take place in municipal garages, connecting it to the traditional 230 V electrical contact. An empty electric motor battery, using the conventional socket, can be charged for approximately nine hours. It is expected that electric mobbing between full recharging times will be up to 160 km.

It should be noted that the municipality of Rezekne is working in a targeted manner so that the municipality develops in an environmentally friendly manner and that the economic activity will result in as much damage as possible to the environment, so the purchase of the modern electric car was one of the steps towards the “greener” Rēzekne municipality.
