Beekeeping, like cereals, fruit-growing or livestock farming, is one of the agricultural subsectors whose significance cannot be revalued because, in addition to the production of direct beekeeping products, honey, pollen, bee bread, propolis, wax etc., bees carry out significant work in the pollination of agricultural crops and other plants; it is an important economic sector!
On 22 February, in the framework of the State Rural Network event, THE RIGA International Latgale Region beekeeper conference was held in the municipality of Rezekne. Traditionally, the beekeepers of Latgale region met to discuss developments in the beekeeping sector, strengthen mutual cooperation between Latgale regional departments and promote closer cooperation with beekeepers of neighbouring countries.

More than 150 participants in the conference from the neighboring and further regions of Latvia and neighbouring countries were met by the Rēzekne Municipality and Domestic Manufacturers (honey, apples, bread, Vienna, fish, cheeses, tea, coffee), honey tastes from the Rēzekne division beekeepers, as well as a small but impressive beekeeper's own beekeeping stock exhibition.
