Rezekne Municipality is visited by U.S. embassy representatives

On 28 November, THE U.S. press and cultural attaché, Chad Twitty, visited the municipality of Rēzekne, the embassy cultural specialist, Lauma Bruvele and the media specialist Kristina Gildeyeva. Representatives OF THE U.S. embassy met with the Vice-President of the Council of Rezekne, Elhusband Pizani, Executive Director Janis Troška, head of cultural division Inara Piebalgs, external communications specialists Intu Rimšani, Lūznavas Manor manager Ivetu Balzni. Elman Pizane informed guests about the main cultural activities in the municipality - preparation for the centenary of the Republic of Latvia and the 2018 song and dance festival. Inta Rimšāne told her about the current collaboration of Rezekne with THE US.
Iveta Balzer told her about Lūznavas, emphasizing that the estate was open to both foreign guests and artists and musicians.
Inara Pleakshne told her about the cultural infrastructure of Rezekne - cultural houses and libraries in parish, which is working to make it possible for citizens to spend their free time. The municipality of Rēzekne is also the centre of Latgale pottery, because “Latgale county puzzles” is active here.
The Vice-President of the Rēzekne municipality, Elhusband Pizāne, said that there is a great deal of attention being paid to sport and healthy lifestyles. The Latvian Football team has achieved high results at national level, while athletes travel to international competitions.
The Executive Director, Janis Troška, said that both the demographic situation and the outflow of people abroad are a major problem. “When we are planning a budget, we are thinking about arranging infrastructure to encourage people to stay and return to the Rēzekne District, so the infrastructure and good roads are important here,” said Janis Troška.
THE U.S. press and cultural attaché, Chad Twitty, welcomed the current cooperation of THE US embassy and Rezekne and said that they would be pleased to cooperate in cultural and other areas.
