Closed Rēzekne District Chess Championship

On Saturday, November 4, an open 2017 championship at the Chess Championship was closed AT Maltas Chess Club. 12 chess from Rezekne, Riga and Rezekne Municipalities took part in the main tournament. 7 sequences were played with time control 12 minutes plus 3 seconds for a move.
The main favorite FIDE maistars Andris Starostis from Rezekne became a leading champion with an absolute result (7 points out of 7). Second – Maltese Dainis Vilnius (5.5 points). Bronze medal for 15-year-olds Adrian Sinai (4.5 points). The veteran is credited with 4.5 points by Georgios Nikiforovs from Rezekne. Second best among seniors – Anatoly Jasinsky (4 points), third place with 3 points Peter Schostaks (both from Maltas).
The youth tournament played 17 pupils with II sports class and lower. Best among boys – Roman Nazarov (5.5 points), silver medal for 8-year-old Valerie Chakov (5 points), on the third pedestal step Maxime Shestakov with 4.5 points (all from Rezekne). Between girls this year better Jekaterina Smirnov from Griškāniem (5.5 points), head of the vicechampionship to Anna Kazmerica (5 points), bronze medal for Christian Georgia from Maltas (4 points).
This year, there was an undivided set of medals in the category “women”. Currently there is a lack of sex in Latvia in chess arena at all levels. Thank the organisers for the Rēzekne municipality for sports management.
