Rezekne SEZ “FDI Magazine” receives special prizes in two categories

In a survey conducted by the British newspaper Financial Times “FDI Magazine” on the prospective world free zones “Global Free zones of the Year 2017”, Rēzekne Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has received two special prizes in categories: “enlargement” and “infrastructure development”.
According to Rēzekne SEZ manager Sandra Ežmati: “through long-term experience, favourable geographical location, competitive maintenance costs and availability of resources, Rezekne SEZ works to become the driving force for the development of Eastern Latvian economy”.
In the international survey, Rezekne SEZ was awarded a special award in the category “enlargement”, where free zones were assessed on the basis of decisions taken by existing commercial companies on enlargement in the area. In this category, “NewFuels” RSEZ SIA, “Energy Resources CHP” RSEZ SIA and “Rezekne Dzirnavnieks” RSEZ AS investments in the area area were particularly highlighted. In the category “Enlargement”, Rezekne SEZ ranked honestly behind Klaipeda Special Economic Zone from Lithuania.
In particular, a special award for infrastructure development has also been obtained in the Rēzekne SEZ survey in the Rēzekne SEZ survey, which is planned to be implemented by the end of 2018, as well as projects planned and planned by the municipality of Rezekne and Rezekne, which are planned to be implemented by the end of 2018. The Zone Manager acknowledges that “co-ordinated cooperation between the participating state, local government and private sector representatives on infrastructure development issues is one of the key preconditions for successful attraction of investments”. The award is awarded to 8 world free zones, including two of Latvia's Ventspils Free Port and Rezekne SEZ.
The study took a total of 66 free zones from around the world, which were assessed on the basis of a survey of the attractiveness of the area, the infrastructure as well as the opportunities and benefits offered to investors. As a result of the study, “FDI Magazine” was recognised as a winner at global level BY THE free zone of DMCC from the combined Arab Emirates, while at European level Katowice's special economic zone from Poland became the best. In addition to the main awards, special awards were also awarded in several categories, two of which were received by Rezekne SEZ. Regarding the special economic zone of Rezekne:
Rezekne SEZ was established on 23 April 1997 on the basis of the “Rēzekne Special Economic Zone Act”. This Law prescribes the procedures for the administration and utilisation of Rezekne SEZ, requirements for the performance of commercial activities and investments, as well as the functions and tasks of the Rēzekne SEZ administration.
The Law on the Application of Taxes in Free Ports and Special Economic Zones is laid down in the Law on the Application of Tax Facilities in Free Ports and Special Economic Zones. The capital companies registered in Rezekne SEZ may receive both direct tax discounts (real estate tax, corporate tax) and indirect tax relief, forming the free areas of Rezekne SEZ, as well as making investments. Tax relief for Rezekne SEZ will be applicable until 31 December 2035.
The total area of Rezekne SEZ is 1155 ha, which includes the administrative territory OF the municipality of Rezekne and Rezekne, Vērēmu, Griškānu and Ozolaines parish. With the status of Rezekne SEZ, 18 commercial companies are active in early 2017.
