Companies in Rezekne SEZ: LEAX Rēzekne and Rezekne Dzirnavnieks

The annual prizes of the RSEZ Special Economic Zone (RSEZ) commercial companies for the 2014 performance of the “annual company” award are awarded to two RSEZ commercial companies – metalworking company SIA “LEAX Rezekne” RSEZ in the large/medium-sized commercial company group and the company “Rezekne Dzirnavnieks” IN RSEZ AS, a small commercial company group. Several RSEZ companies have been awarded recognition articles on investment IN THE development OF RSEZ. The award was presented AT THE annual celebration of RSEZ on 24 July 2015.
The annual prize of THE “RSEZ Special Economic Zone Board” OF the municipality of Rezekne is to welcome and honour the successful entrepreneurs, assessing the results of the previous year's activities, including the investments made in improving production, the amount of production produced, the amount of the exported production, the amount of taxes paid, etc. Companies are evaluated in groups of large/medium-sized and small commercial companies.

For metalworking company SIA “LEAX Rezekne” RSEZ awards are awarded in nominations “largest exporter”, “annual innovation”, “largest taxpayer”, “annual investment”, “fastest growing company”, “annual producer”. “LEAX Rezekne” represents one of THE LEAX Group metalworking companies in Latvia and Sweden, the second plant in Latvia is located in Riga Region Babite. In 2014, THE turnover of LEAX Rezekne was eur 11.13 million.
The RSEZ AS (grain elevator) award is awarded in several nominations – “annual service provider”, “largest taxpayer”, “fastest growing company”, “largest exporter”, “annual investment”. The company's turnover in 2014 was eur 3.35 million.
In the group of large/medium-sized commercial companies, the articles on investment IN THE development OF RSEZ were also granted in 2014 to companies “VEREMS”, “REBIR”, “MAGISTR - FISCAL EVEGN GROUP.MF G”, “NewFuels”. In contrast, in the small group of companies, the recognition articles on investment IN THE development OF RSEZ were granted to companies “DFD”, “RIGAMET”, “EsJu”, “MB Properties”, “REDIUS”, “LATION” and “Atmosclear CHP” in 2014.
In total, 13 commercial companies were awarded THE annual Awards of RSEZ commercial companies for 2014 performance indicators.
Following the proposals of the Rēzekne City and Municipalities, the Rēzekne business association, the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the North Latgale Division and the Rēzekne Higher School, recognition articles have been awarded to several commercial companies in other nominations not included in the tender regulations. For the largest export geography in 2014, the recognition article was awarded to RSEZ “MAGISTR - FISCAL EVEGN GROUP.MF G” SIA. For the promotion of the city identity of Rezekne in 2014, the recognition article was awarded to beer and quasi-production company SIA RSEZ “DFD”. On social partnership, in the field of culture and education in 2014, a veneer production site “VEREMS” RSEZ SIA was awarded a recognition article, while the promotion of employment and promotion of good practice of entrepreneurship in 2014 was awarded to metalworking company SIA “LEAX Rezekne” RSEZ.
Last year for the 2013 performance, the award was awarded to the veneer production company “VEREMS” RSEZ SIA and metalworking company SIA “LEAX Rezekne” RSEZ.
With THE status of RSEZ commercial company in early 2015, 17 commercial companies, including 2 companies, have been granted this status in 2014. IN 2014, RSEZ companies employed 772 workers (almost 25% of all employees in the manufacturing industry in Rezekne and Rezekne municipality). Since 2010, MORE than 200 new direct jobs and more than 500 indirect jobs have been created in RSEZ companies.
THE turnover OF RSEZ commercial companies in 2014 has reached 64.73 mln euro (RSEZ commercial companies with the largest turnover: “VEREMS” RSEZ SIA 25.44 million euro, SIA “LEAX Rezekne” RSEZ 11.13 million euro, “NewFuels” RSEZ SIA 15.71 million euro, “REBIR” RSEZ AS eur 4.44 million). According to turnover figures, these commercial companies are one of the largest city and municipality of Rezekne.
Both foreign direct investment and residents' investments have been performed in RSEZ commercial companies: since 1998, EUR 115 million in long-term investments in the development of infrastructure and modern technologies. In 2014, a long-term investment of nearly eur 15 million has been invested IN RSEZ commercial companies in the development of infrastructure and modern technologies.
Regarding the special economic zone of Rezekne:
The special economic zone of Rezekne was established in 1997 with the aim of promoting trade, developing industry and traffic, as well as exports and imports of goods through Latvia, attracting investments for the development of production and infrastructure and the creation of new jobs. THE laws of the Republic of Latvia and other laws and regulations shall be fully applicable in THE territory OF RSEZ. Special provisions FOR RSEZ commercial companies are laid down in accordance with the “Law on the Special Economic Zone of Rezekne”, the Law on the Application of Taxes in Free Ports and Special Economic Zones. CAPITAL companies registered IN RSEZ may receive both direct tax discounts (real estate tax, corporate tax) and indirect tax relief, forming free zones in THE territory OF THE RSEZ, as well as making investments. Initially, the period of operation of the Rezekne Special Economic Zone was set until 2017, but on 14 March 2013, the Saeima adopted amendments to the Law on the Special Economic Zone of Rezekne and on 4 April 2013 amendments to the Law on the Application of Taxes in Free Ports and Special Economic Areas, stipulating that tax incentives FOR RSEZ will be applicable until 31 December 2035. THE total area OF RSEZ is 1155 ha, which includes the administrative territory OF the municipality of Rezekne and Rezekne, Vērēmu, Griškānu and Ozolaines parish.
