Rēzekne SEZ commercial companies have significantly increased turnover in 2016

In 2016, Rezekne SEZ commercial companies have increased their turnover by 20.51 TP1T, reaching €85 million, which is the highest indicator since the creation of Rezekne SEZ. In 2016, more than 75% of Rezekne SEZ's commercial companies have entered into a profit, and 845 employees are employed in Rēzekne SEZ commercial companies.
More than 75 % of Rezekne SEZ's commercial companies have increased their turnover in 2016, raising it to eur 85 million, which is by 20.5 % more than in 2015. The largest turnover was in the companies “VEREMS” RSEZ SIA – eur 32 million, “NewFuels” RSEZ SIA – eur 21 million and SIA “LEAX Rezekne” RSEZ – eur 14 million. The fastest increase in turnover last year was in commercial companies RSEZ SIA “Irbis Technology” - 307% and “Energy Recourse CHP” RSEZ SIA 215 %.
In the past 5 years, Rezekne SEZ has invested more than eur 53 million in infrastructure and technology development. The largest long-term investments in this period have been performed in commercial companies “VEREMS” RSEZ SIA (eur 13,9 million) and “NewFuels” RSEZ SIA (eur 13,1 million). In 2016, the largest investments in the amount of eur 3.46 million were made in the granular plant “NewFuels” RSEZ SIA. Overall, eur 25,4 million has been invested in the company's development and is currently the largest producer of granules in the Baltics in a single production facility. In turn, in the company “Rezekne Dzirnavnieks”, LONG-term investments in the amount of eur 1.37 million have been made IN 2016 for improvement of RSEZ'S grain Elevator services and increasing the storage capacity of grain. The total amount of accrued investments in Rēzekne SEZ commercial companies is currently 140 million euro. The overall favourable investment environment is also shown by the fact that by the end of 2017 several companies IN Rezekne SEZ are planning to launch new investment projects.
The positive growth rate of Rezekne SEZ is also the growing number of jobs that have increased by 132 jobs or 19 % in recent years. In 2016, 845 employees were employed in Rēzekne SEZ commercial companies. Last year, the largest employers in the special economic zone companies have BEEN RSEZ SIA (333 employees) and SIA “LEAX Rezekne” RSEZ (152) and RSEZ “MAGISTR-FISCAL EVEGN GROUP.MF G” SIA (85) and NewFuels RSEZ SIA (59). The largest increase in jobs in 2016 has been THE SIA “LEAX Rezekne” RSEZ – 13 new jobs.
In 2016, the status of Rēzekne SEZ commercial company was granted to the steel design manufacturer RSEZ SIA “LATSTAB”. The company employs 36 employees and also became a winner of the Latvian Investment and Development Agency competition “Export and Innovation Award” in 2014. Last year RSEZ SIA “LATSTAB” has exported to foreign countries a total of eur 0.8 million or 90 % of total production, including 77% exported to European Union countries.
It is doubtful that a successful and high-quality business infrastructure is a crucial factor in the successful attraction of investments. It is therefore important that the municipalities of the municipality of Rezekne and the city council of Rezekne, in connection with the introduction of projects financed by the Structural Funds in the territory of Rezekne SEZ, invest more than 20 million euros in the time period until 2019.
Regarding the special economic zone of Rezekne:
Rezekne SEZ was established on 23 April 1997 on the basis of the “Rēzekne Special Economic Zone Act”. This Law prescribes the procedures for the administration and utilisation of Rezekne SEZ, requirements for the performance of commercial activities and investments, as well as the functions and tasks of the Rēzekne SEZ administration.
The Law on the Application of Taxes in Free Ports and Special Economic Zones is laid down in the Law on the Application of Tax Facilities in Free Ports and Special Economic Zones. The capital companies registered in Rezekne SEZ may receive both direct tax discounts (real estate tax, corporate tax) and indirect tax relief, forming the free areas of Rezekne SEZ, as well as making investments. Tax relief for Rezekne SEZ will be applicable until 31 December 2035.
The total area of Rezekne SEZ is 1155 ha, which includes the administrative territory OF the municipality of Rezekne and Rezekne, Vērēmu, Griškānu and Ozolaines parish. With the status of Rezekne SEZ, 18 commercial companies are active in early 2017.
