Rēzekne SEZ commercial companies increased turnover by 18% in 2017 and created 47 new jobs

In the last year, the total turnover of the Rēzekne Special Economic Zone (SEZ) commercial companies has reached 99.4 million euro and 899 employees are employed in the commercial companies of the zone. 2017 Rēzekne SEZ commercial companies have been successful, most commercial companies have increased turnover, number of employees, export and profit.
Compared to 2016, the turnover of Rezekne SEZ commercial companies has increased by 18% last year, reaching 99.4 million euro. Rezekne SEZ commercial companies with the largest turnover – birch plywood plant “VEREMS” RSEZ SIA, wood pellet plant “NewFuels” RSEZ SIA and metalworking company SIA “LEAX Rezekne” RSEZ. The biggest increase in turnover in 2017 was in RSEZ SIA “LATSTAB” in Rezekne SEZ's commercial companies, which doubled its turnover, amounting to eur 1.6 million, RSEZ “REDIUS” SIA, which increased turnover by 44%, and SIA “LEAX Rezekne” RSEZ, whose turnover reached eur 18,9 million in 2017.
The number of jobs in Rēzekne SEZ commercial companies has increased last year – in 2017 it reached 899 jobs, which is 47 jobs more than in 2016. Over the past five years, the number of employees of Rezekne SEZ's commercial company has increased by 26%. The largest increase in jobs was observed in SIA “LEAX Rezekne” RSEZ, which has also created 36 new jobs in the territory of Rezekne SEZ.
The total amount of long-term investment in Rēzekne SEZ amounted to eur 142 million in 2017. In the past four years, the commercial companies of the Rēzekne SEZ have invested more than eur 41 million in the development of modern technologies and the development of infrastructure. Rezekne SEZ invested both domestic and foreign capital. As the largest investors IN Rezekne SEZ, it is possible to mention “VEREMS” RSEZ SIA, “NewFuels” RSEZ SIA, “Energy Resources CHP” RSEZ SIA and SIA “LEAX Rezekne” RSEZ.
The performance indicators of the Rezekne SEZ commercial companies for 2017 are compiled on the basis of reports submitted by 19 commercial companies. Overall, the status of Rezekne SEZ's commercial company is currently granted to 18 commercial companies, including RSEZ SIA “alpha Lithium”, which acquired the status of Rēzekne SEZ commercial company in 2017 and currently operates in the wholesale trade sector of metals and metal ores.
Regarding the special economic zone of Rezekne:
Rezekne SEZ was established in 1997 on the basis of “Rēzekne Special Economic Zone Act”. This Law prescribes the procedures for the administration and utilisation of Rezekne SEZ, requirements for the performance of commercial activities and investments, as well as the functions and tasks of the Rēzekne SEZ administration.
The Law on the Application of Taxes in Free Ports and Special Economic Zones is laid down in the Law on the Application of Tax Facilities in Free Ports and Special Economic Zones. The capital companies registered in Rezekne SEZ may receive both direct tax discounts (real estate tax, corporate tax) and indirect tax relief, forming the free areas of Rezekne SEZ, as well as making investments. Tax relief for Rezekne SEZ will be applicable until 31 December 2035.
The total area of Rezekne SEZ is 1155 ha, which includes the administrative territory OF the municipality of Rezekne and Rezekne, Vērēmu, Griškānu and Ozolaines parish. With the status of Rezekne SEZ, 18 commercial companies are active in early 2018.
