With his susceptibility and focus, Maria has shown that this ancient position of handwriting can also be a basis for successful and modern business.
The crisis did not fall
In 2009, due to the lack of learners and the economic crisis of the country, Nagļu primary school was closed, where Maria Toba worked as a teacher of household and visual art. I had to think what to do next. The nails held their hands - with the funding of the Soros Foundation -- Latvia's project competition “Opportunities for change for schools”, they managed to transform the former primary school into a multifunctional public resource centre for parish residents, where different age groups would be offered the opportunity to deal with various activities, including crafts. The Head of the Centre was Maria Toba. For years before, in 1999, in the Nagles, a conflict of interest club “Rear” was created, where the parish handlers were working together. The Club of Interest also operates now, meeting every Wednesday, but Marie's handwriting became not only a hobbie, but also a day of bread.

Marie's works are surprising with an amazing combination of ethnographic and modern elements. Demand - hard to predict
Can the work be a business sector today? Maria thinks it's possible. “Of course, it's awfully unpredictable.” For example, the same hats with reflective elements already seemed to be very demanding because they were so practical. We took it to the market, didn't buy anyone. It was only after that that we had shown and told them how comfortable and practical they were. '
At the moment, the buyers are more favourite than simple knitted hats. A few years ago, very popular from the rags in the woven floor of the floor, they are now buying less.
“I don't have that weight, but the orders.” It is also more advantageous, but i cannot tell you how much such order will be in the future, which i can count on. I have enough work for the next autumn. In the middle, some creative work for the pleasure or a gift. '
Much had to be done with orders for which funding was received in project competitions, but there was a peculiarity, very short time limits and some volatility. "As this Polish school work, which must be ready for 10 February, but the contract has not yet been signed or signed. In early December, they got a win in the competition and i started to work if i did so only when a contract had already been signed, which would i be able to do? There is little time, at that moment it often happens that you can't get exactly the material you want, so the result is not always satisfactory. '
Maria has considered the idea of applying for the rural economic development of the municipality of Rezekne FOR THE DEVELOPMENT of THE project applications launched BY THE LEARN to 16 February in order to purchase a modern computer sewing machine. It could both make and make embroidery. This will help to make the most difficult and larger works, but not all.
“Modern technologies and materials come into hand-to-hand work, but not all the computer can be done. The wolves can't be embroidered and they can't get their belts. The work will continue to be an individual work, not an industrial production," says Maria Toba.
