RSEZ experience exchange visit to Moldova's northern region development days

From 23 to 27 September, representatives of the Rēzekne Special Economic Zone (RSEZ), Rēzekne City and Municipalities took part in the development days of Moldova's northern region, during which seminars and discussions shared experience of entrepreneurship in the context of the European Union, attracting investments for regional development in Latvia and Moldova.
As part of the visit, a special economic zone “white” (Free Economic Zone BĂLȚI) was visited, several manufacturing companies of different sectors, such as the fruit and vegetable processing company “alimentare” Sohands in the city and others.
Sandra Ežmala, manager of the local government institution “Rēzekne Special Economic Zone Board”: “such visits and participation in investment forums are always very useful, as they help build cooperation contacts with entrepreneurs of other countries, state and local government institutions. The visit of the special economic zone, on the other hand, made it possible to better understand the supply and development strategies of institutions similar to Rezekne's special economic zone in other countries and to create a more competitive offer for themselves.”
A co-operation agreement signed within business days between the municipality of Rezekne and the city of Moldovan Jedineca, a cooperation agreement between the city of Rezekne and the Republic of Moldova Sohand, as well as a cooperation agreement between the Moldovan trade and industrial chamber and Latgale planning region Latgale business centre.
The event was organised by the National Development Agency of Moldova in cooperation with local governments of Moldova Sohand and Jedineca, the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Moldova, as well as the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of the Republic of Latvia, in order to promote economic and investment potential, to form a partnership partnership between local governments and companies in Moldova, Romania, Latvia, Poland and Ukraine. Overall, around 100 representatives took part in the development days of the ziemeļu region of Moldova.
THE cooperation OF RSEZ and municipalities with the development agency of the Northern Region of Moldova started already in 2013. In May of that year, a delegation of representatives of Moldovan entrepreneurs, state and local government institutions visited Rezekne for the purpose of exchange of experience. The visit was organised by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development (VARAM) in cooperation with local governments.
