Cooperation: key to sustainable development. Annual Latgale tourism conference in Kraslava

On November 8, an annual Latgale tourism conference and a tourist year award ceremony took place in the Plasteru Castle of Kraslava, which also brought tourism specialists from the entire region this year.
The conference was opened by the long-standing leader of the League of Latgale Tourism Association, Kondrats and the current head of association Jelena Kijasko, presenting the statistics of the current tourism season of 2019 and offering to be acquainted with the planned activities of the 2020 association. These include participation in the “Adventur” tourism exhibition in Lithuania, a workshop in Poland, as well as a tourism exhibition “Balttour” in Riga.
More than 130 tourism industry representatives and six experience-rich lecturers from Riga, Rezekne and Poland visited the conference this year. Similarly, this year, the Polish diplomat, the Philippines and the Ambassador of Poland to Latvia Monika Mikhališina, as well as the Ambassador of Latvia to Poland Edgars Bondars, honored his presence. Aivars Mackevics, Director of Baltic Travel News, was in the role of the conference moderator. Both conference lecturers and representatives of Latgale local government have repeatedly stressed in their speeches that successful and sustainable development is based on mutual cooperation, which will continue to be developed.
More than 40 nominants in six categories, which were carefully evaluated by a professional jury in eight people, were nominated during this year's Latgale tourism year. With satisfaction, we can say that the evaluation was far from simple because there is indeed a lot of quality tourism providers in Latgale. In particular, the relatively large number of nominants in categories that examined new and innovative tourism offers/products, which indicate the entry of new trends and solutions in Latgale tourism market.
The Latgale Tourism Annual Prize 2019 in the category “best tourist accommodation in city 2019” received a prize Hotel Dvinska (Daugavpils), in the category “best tourist accommodation in rural 2019”, the award was received by a guest house Svilpaunieks (Rezekne municipality), in the category “best new tourism object”, the award was received by Lost in Latgale. Authentic eco-Travel Adventure (Kraslava municipality). In the category “best innovative tourism product 2019”, the award was received by Nester Custom moto & Metal art Gallery (Previous). In the category “tourism professional 2019”, the award was received by Picture of Barsukova Malnava's “depths” (Current municipality). But with the receipt of “Lolita Kozlovsk Excellence Award 2019”, congratulations – Latgale Embassy GORE (Rezekne).
Congratulations and sincerely proud of both the winners and all the tourism entrepreneurs in our region! The Latgale region gradually, yet persistently marks itself as a demanded and recognisable tourist destination, and the potential of the sector that has not yet reached the end can be fully developed by co-operation.
