Sweet and delicious festival in Raters
On 19 March, on the day of Joseph, Čornajas parish in Raters, a housework competition “Jezupeņam gordy sungki” was organised for the third consecutive year. This year's theme was “sweet food.” The main task of the party was to prepare and bring food according to the subject.
This year, there were 12 participants in the competition between 24 and 63. The fantasy of the housewives could only be surprised, because the table was filled with varied and gorgeous sweet meals, which made it impossible for visitors to say: “or what beauty and imagination, let alone taste...” Indeed, it seems to me that a non-professional housewife in the countryside, doing everyday homework, has time to prepare for the competition, which is judged by the jury, but when you see, time is in, and we all have to wonder about the tough, the chuckle, the affection of the rural wives, because every deserted dessert, the pie, the cake was prepared with love and handed out of the heart, and in every piece of work the jury also could see his “rosin”.
The Simulent Calla Liv vomed the sweet dessert, Alexander Bule offered “skudruges”, Olga Dombrovskis – “sweet potato” and “black pearl”, Elga Elksne – “spring”, Magdalina Coukule made the table “Baunts”, a long period of Bule also offered the torti “black prince”, Inna Levicka – “honey torte”, Bernard Dudkevich was pleased with the cake “Charlotte” and “house grilyd”, Irina Kudrjavceva, “pier of the house”, Olga Borisenko – “the pier”, Maria Rinkikova – “the pie”, Maria Rinkikova – “The pīrādziņš”, Diana Ganusa – “The pūciņa”.
It was not easy for the jury to appreciate and settle for the prizes, because every sweetness had no work and imagination; however, when it came to unanimity, Magdalina Kukule, the “Bounti”, became the 1 st-winner. The 2 nd place winner is Elga Elksne and sweet sushi “spring”, while the 3 rd place won a long Bule with the “black prince”.
The special recognition of the jury and the nomination of the prize “the most original design” was received by Maria Rinkikova and the “Celma in snow” work, as well as Olga Dombrovskis with sweet shells “black pearl”. In the nomination, the “sweetest food” award was received by Innas Levickas “honey cake”. The jury's sympathy prize came to the “house-knife” autores Irinas Kudrjavceva, who offered home sweets with a wide variety of flavours that were not in any store. On the other hand, the prize of the spectators was traveled to the “Baunti” cake and the 1 st place of the competition was acquired by Magdalina Kukules.
At the time of the event, dough was mentioned, various economic competitions were organised for all visitors. The winner of this year's competition, Magdalina Kukule, lowered the theme of the next year and it is “salad cakes”. The participants immediately had ideas and plans for the next year.
