Seminar on the possibilities of digital art in the city of Rezekne, Latvia and Latvia

On February 22, 2017, a seminar of the project “European Connections in Digital Arts – EUCIDA (digital art covers Europe – LV)” will be held in the municipality of Rēzekne, dedicated to the possibilities of digital art in the city of Rezekne, Latvia and Latvia.
The digital art created by computer technology currently gains increasing popularity across the world. As a result of the use of global web-based media, digital art is also called multimedia or multimedia art or new media art.
In the seminar with pre-reading and presentations, the most authoritative researchers in the field of digital art in Latvia – textile artist, Latvian art academy Latgale branch Lectore Gundega Strautmane and associate professor at Liepaja University, RIXC founder of the new media cultural centre RIXC, who have been active in the contemporary media art field since mid-90 s, combining art with science and new technologies have participated in the seminar. The RIXC can be found on the website http://www.rixc.org/lv/exhibitions.
On the opportunities offered by THE PROJECT “EUCIDA” for artists' creative activities in Rēzekne municipality, Lūznavas maniža manager Iveta Balzer will be informed. Modern art fans will continue to be able to use the project website (http://www.eucida.eu/news) to obtain information not only on the events of the project but also on the opportunities of artists' residents and exhibitions in Europe.
Gundega Strautmane will conduct a practical lesson that will enter the seminar participants in digital art thinking, while the Smites Report will focus on digital art opportunities in Latvia and the world.
Cultural workers, art teachers, and existing and emerging artists interested in modern art are invited to participate in the seminar.
Participants shall be asked to sign in advance by 17 February in the form of e-mail Inta.Rimsane@rezeknesnovads.lv.

It should be noted that at the end of 2016, the municipality of Rezekne was involved in the European Union's “European Connections in Digital Arts – EUCIDA” project supported by the European Union programme “Creative Europe”. The project co-operation partners are digital art centres in Dublin (Ireland) and Belfort (France).
As the project coordinator Inta Rimšāne informed, several art exhibitions have been planned for this year. One of them will be seen IN Lūznavas manor from June to August. Artists from Ireland, France, as well as from Riga, who will be leading creative workshops for local artists who are currently being identified, are expected to attend the exhibition.
