On 9 May, the European Day, or the European Union's birthday, is widely celebrated throughout Europe. The programme of measures proposed in Latvia this year is particularly diverse and offers great opportunities both to explore the cultural heritage of Europe and the traditions of different European countries, to explore the diversity of European funds and to engage in other activities related to European Day celebrations.

As from 8.00 morning, its doors will open TO THE EU house, where everyone will be able to participate in educational activities on the European Union throughout the day, using a snapshot opportunity within the European Day celebration, passing the European exam on the spot. It will also be able to participate in the creative stock “BUTTON - belonging and fitness for Latvia and Europe” – whose feelings are due to the “said button” of Imanta's donation. “I'm not just a yellow or blue button, i'm a BUTTON!” I'm good and i belong! Come on 9 May to THE EU house and suck his BUTTON to keep my loved ones, Latvia and Europe. 'Each EU house is invited to embed a yellow or blue button on the Latvian map, expressing its membership and a good wish for Latvia and Europe.
Similarly, every European day calls for the choice of blue and yellow tones to be included in their clothing, or the colour accessories in question, so that they can visually participate in the celebrations of the European Day. OPEN DOOR DAY IN RIGA AND MUNICIPALITY
By celebrating the European Year of Cultural Heritage, the EU House, the MINISTRY of Foreign Affairs, the Office of the European Regulators for Electronic Communications, THE LR Saeima and the National Inspection for Cultural Monuments and many other organisations will be offered on the open day of interactive and awareness activity. The open doorday movement is invited by every institution and company that wants to show its benefits from Europe and is prepared to take visitors by celebrating the celebrations of the European Day in Latvia.
The embassies of EU Member States and European Eastern Partnership countries will present their work in Latvia, meet with diplomats, discuss their national culture, geography and tourism opportunities.
In order to discuss the preservation of cultural and natural heritage, as well as the projects financed BY EU funds, the groups of pupils will receive more than 20 organisations and companies, such as the Museum of Bauska Palace, the concert hall “Cēsis”, the Daugavpils Marco Rootko Art Centre, the Latvian university nature house etc. On the day of the opening day of the opening trip, on 9 May, we invite every lead, the current program with organisations that will open the door, published www.esmaja.lv. EUROPEAN EXAM
Europe's exam has been an integral part of the European Day for several years. 9 May, from 8.00 morning to 21.00 in the evening, everyone online www.esmaja.lv you can sort the European exam, which is a test so that people can check their knowledge and understanding of life in Europe at different ages. The test can be performed in any type of device – phones, tablets, computers. It is designed to be interesting, exciting, and also entertaining. The test participant must answer 20 questions. Each participant in the examination shall receive a certificate of participation in the test and shall find out the results achieved. The best test participants will also receive valuable prizes.
In Riga, a special surprise awaits the mystery of the cinema - kino Citadele from plkst.. 11:00 will be able to produce the result of his European exam and receive a cinema ticket free of charge. THE EUROPEAN DAY-DEDICATED CONCERT “EU AND CINEMA”
The traditional European Day concert is dedicated to the important part of European culture this year – cinema. As part of this, well-known artists will perform music from cinema films known in Europe. The visual design of the concert will show the fragments of these films, illustrating the cultural diversity and richness of Europe. A concert from Latvian national theatre will be able to watch on 9 May AT LTV1. 21.20. The concert takes place under the direction of Simfonietta Riga conductor Normund Sne, the accompanying group under the direction of Christapa Russian Hill, Ralph Eiland, Elsa Rozenthle, Dita Lūrina, Evie Martinson, Veronica Plotņikova, and many others in love with the artist.
OFFICE OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT IN LATVIA
The European Parliament's Ambassadors' Schools throughout Latvia will hold convenient and knowledgeable European Day events on 9 May. European Day events organised BY THE EP office in Latvia will be as different as THE EU itself: competitions on EU themes, the debate “which is an active European citizen” etc. Public-known personalities will also be involved in school events. ROL SAEIMA
The European Day will also be celebrated in the Saeima House. The pupils, together with the Saeima members, will be able to examine their knowledge of THE work OF THE EU and Parliament, to look at the premises of the Saeima House representation and to take a positive picture of the commemoration from the celebrations of the European birthday in 2018.
ROL MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS
From 13:00 – 16:00 the doors will also be opened by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and visitors will be able to know the work and history of Latvian Foreign Service in the face-to-face. An exhibition of Viļānu high school drawings at the Ministry's building “We Europe” and document exhibition (s) WILL be visible. 13:00 - all attendance with musical festival greetings will be welcomed by the girls' choir of the 2 nd Gymnasium School of Riga, and the speech will be said by the parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica. In the 10 th – 12 th classes, students in the Ministry of Education will participate in “mind games” in response to questions about the history, geography and policy of THE EU and their Member States. In parallel, the drawing workshop “draws the future of Europe with diplomats”.
STATE CHANCELLERY
The State Chancellery, marking the European Day, has created an interactive knowledge test test on Latvia's accession to the European Union and the benefits it has given to every citizen of Latvia. A variety of tests on Latvia's state-of-the-art processes and personalities have already been available on the site, such as the Baltic Road, the Latvian Interim Council, Latgale Congress, the acceptance of the declaration of independence and the 1991 barricades. The European test will be available from 8 May.
 
 
UNESCO LATVIAN NATIONAL COMMISSION EXHIBITION “HERITAGE STORY – MY STORY, YOUR STORY”
THE Latvian National Commission of UNESCO, together with young people in the European Year of Cultural Heritage, has created an exhibition - a photo collage of young people - “the story of the estate - my story, your story”. The participants of the photo exhibition were invited to create photo stories that reveal the importance of cultural heritage in society and every life, as well as to participate in educational seminars and workshops on heritage values. The promotion was organised as a national initiative within the world UNESCO campaign #Unite4Heritage. Details of the organised stock and the exhibition can be found at:

PROMOTION “BACK TO SCHOOL”
From March to May 11, the annual promotion “back to school” is taking place in Latvia. At this time, THE staff of EU institutions, representatives of state and local government institutions, NGOs activists and other specialists who are facing Europe-related issues on a day-to-day basis, go to schools to share their work experience and knowledge of the European Union with young people, as well as career-making opportunities in Latvia and Europe. The promotion “back to school” is organised in Latvia since 2008 and traditionally the most visits are held at the beginning of May.
