The international tourism exhibition “ITB 2018” was presented to Latgale in Berlin

In the international tourism exhibition “ITB 2018”, which took place in Berlin in Berlin from 7 to 11 March, representing Latgale, the Latvian National Stand was employed by the Director of the Tourism Development and Information Agency of Daugavpils City, Ilona Maksimchika and the Kraslava municipality BELIEVES Editte Lukša.
The first day of the exhibition was dedicated to the establishment of professional contacts, so that the tourist agencies, which are in search of new and undetected tourist destinations, were working. Most German tourism operators impose requirements for high-ranked infrastructure, luxury-class SpA hotels and large entertainment facilities (shopping etc.). The authentic environment, wilderness and cultural and artisanal traditions are also assessed.
At the end of the weekend, the exhibition was mainly visited by individual customers: both seniors and families with children, as well as young people. The work at the exhibition demonstrated once again that German travellers are disciplined and demanding, and therefore continue to work on improving the quality of tourism products and services. It was also pointed out by tourists who had previously visited Latgale. The most important questions have been raised about the most important areas of Latgale survey, traffic and road infrastructure, cycling routes and natural tourism. Much was said about active recreational opportunities, as well as masterpieces and demonstration projects offered by craftsmen, and the culinary heritage of Latgale. It should be noted that this year German tourists were interested in an active recreational supply, there was also a demand for water routes, walking trails. Very many are planning a joint route along the Baltic States, so there was demand for tourism materials that have TOP objects, including in Latgale region. There was a great interest in Latgale's active tourism map and recreational opportunities. It is important that most of the exhibition visitors who are interested in tourism opportunities are already planning their 2019 travel.
In five days, THE exhibition “ITB Berlin” visited almost 170 thousand leads, of which 110 thousand were professionals in the industry. The number of participants in the exhibition was approximately 10 thousand from 186 countries and regions.
In the exhibition “ITB Berlin 2018”, Latvia IS represented by the Latvian campsite association “Latvian campsite association” in the Latvian Tourism Department, the association “Latgale tourism association Ezerland”, the Daugavpils Mark Rootko Art Centre, the Latvian Citizens' Tourism Association, the Latvian Hotel and Restaurant Association, the Riga Tourism Development Office, the Vidzeme Tourism Association and the Liepāja City Municipal Administration.
