Extraordinary meeting of the Rēzekne District Council on the damage caused by floods

Tuesday, at 10.00 An extraordinary meeting of the municipality of Rezekne is convened in the small hall of the municipality of Rezekne. On the agenda of the meeting, the question of the decision to encourage the Cabinet of Ministers to announce the emergency situation in Rezekne municipality due to the severe situation in agriculture, which has developed after the long-standing rain.

During the telephone conversation, the Prime Minister was informed about the damage caused by natural disasters to local governments, entrepreneurs and residents of Latgale planning region. As a result of the heavy rain in Latgale, there was a leachate on the roads, a highway between Carver and Rezekne was closed, and several local roads were closed.
M.kuchinsk stated: “the local authorities in the big rain need to identify real damage so that it is perfectly clear what damage has been caused. This is necessary in order to be able to decide how to help the affected areas as effectively as possible.
Aware of the seriousness of the situation, on Monday, August 28, the Prime Minister's meeting with the leaders of the local government of Latgale will be held in Livani.
In view of the large amount of precipitation experienced for the first time in the history of observations, floods formed in several municipalities, the formation of which was also facilitated by the previous rays, which affected Eastern Latvia on 19-21 August.
Since floods have caused losses not only for local government infrastructure but also for farmers, the emergency meeting will also be visited by Minister OF Environmental Protection and Regional Development Kaspars Gerhards and Minister of Agriculture (ZM) Janis Duklavs. On Friday, THE MINISTER of ZM took a personal visit to the farm in Latgale to ascertain the damage caused by the damage to the farmers and to deal with the situation.
