Continuing youth guarantee in the last 25 professions

By 23 February, the winter reception of youth guarantees in educational programmes is continuing, in which young people may apply for a professions requested in the labour market within 1 year free of charge. Training in one of the 25 professions is offered by 17 professional educational institutions throughout Latvia and this is the last entry in the programme for youth guarantee that is approaching the end.
“Youth Guarantee is in Latvia since 2014 and has been graduated by more than 6000 young people. According to our graduate surveys in previous years, the education received helps to reduce youth unemployment. Half a year after graduation around 70%, youth work and half of them - in the acquired profession,” says the Director of the State Education Development Agency (VIAA) Vocational Education Project Department Elina Purmati-Baumane.
Non-working young people aged 17-29 may be eligible for training. Young people may also be registered in the State Employment Agency as jobseekers or unemployed persons and at the same time receive unemployment benefit.
Young people who are employed and self-employed as well as young parents who are on parental leave, but only if they are between 17 and 24 years of age, and can combine work or childcare with training, should also be admitted to the training of young people, given that the programme is on-the-spot.
In the course of training, young people receive a scholarship from 70 to 115 euros per month, if successful, as well as the necessary training, free space service hotel and career support services. In contrast, during qualification practice, the program pays travel expenses and accommodation if necessary.
Young people need primary education, secondary education or secondary vocational education to apply for one of the youth guarantee professions. Students who receive secondary education in distance learning or study part-time studies at university may also apply for applications.
The range of professions offered consists of professions such as cook, confectionery, finishing worker, engineering-communications motor, ovens potter, tailor, seam, chemical production operator, carpenter, wood-processing machine operator, driver of a cockpit car, and a motorsaw operator. The final admission also includes the following professions: the clerk, the retailer of the retail store, the gardener, the cockpit (arborist), the hairdresser, the visitor, the electric monster, the autolock, the locker, the frenzer, the turnip, the hand-held locker and the locker with the mechanised machine.
The lessons of the years will start on 26 February and the application to vocational training institutes will be held until 23 February. With all youth guarantee professions, educational institutions, admission rules and benefits can be found on THE VIAA website: www.viaa.gov.lv/jauniesugarantija.
