Ongoing activities of the Step2Peak, Activate & Respond2Kids project
From 11 to 15 April, the Delegation of the Comenius Regio project “Step2Peak, Activate & Respond2Kids” at 14 Rēzekne municipality and the Delegation of the Higher School of Rēzekne visited the municipality of Sisaka-Moslavin in Croatia. Among the members of the delegation were both teachers and local government staff. The main activity during this visit was a meeting of partners organised at the Sisaka-Moslavinas District Centre on April 12, 2013, and was chaired by Sisaka-Moslavinas District Prefect and the president of the company “ISKRA”, president of the foundation, Andrija Rudics. During the meeting, both regions presented the activities of the project and the results of the project. The partners expressed confidence that the results of the project are mutually beneficial and that they have helped to achieve the objectives of the project, which include increasing the quality and efficiency of the education system.
Other main focus during the partner negotiations: possible future cooperation projects. Both sides showed a genuine interest in cooperation and as key directions the traditional culture, the acquisition of natural sciences outside the class borders, and the exchange of teachers were mentioned.
The meeting continued at Petrinya High School, where there was a common cooking and tasting of traditional food. We were surprised and delighted by the multicultural ensemble of high school boys.
During the visit to Croatia, we also visited Opal at the Adriatic Sea, where there was a meeting with local government representatives: the Mayor of Mayor Marina Gashparicu and the education specialists Marta Berchicz. It was interesting to see a room for Members' sitting, which is specially equipped and obviously serves only this one purpose, and thus demonstrates local patriotism and respect for the People's servants. The idea of working with children and young people was particularly inspired by the fact that the most friendly cities/municipalities are mentioned annually in Croatia. Why would it not be possible to introduce such practices to us - Rezekne municipality, organising the “children-friendly parish” competition? This would encourage advice on the availability of different institutions, facilities for the whole family, the diversification of pre-school education institutions and school offers and “image polishing”, the offer of events and, on …, a number of other directions which could be put forward as criteria in such a competition.
The small mountain village Fujine, where the Croatians traditionally come to meet the new year, was surprised by their wide-ranging tourism offer: a clean environment, a special emphasis on active tourism (walking paths, active recreational parks), accommodation and catering service and a number of others.
Thanks to the project coordinator Kristinai Štimacai and the municipal workshops from the municipality of Sisaka-Moslavina, who took care of the content and interesting programme, they were everywhere and took care of our group's well-being.
