Additional support for families in the State budget

In order to provide more State aid to families with children, following the initiative of the expert cooperation platform “Demographic Affairs Centre”, this year's national budget foresees additional measures of more than eur 20 million. In addition, in addition to support for the “first dwelling programme”, in order to allow families with children to receive a State guarantee for the purchase or construction of the first dwelling, the family State benefit in families with four and more children and the national minimum amount of aid to survivors are increased. In order to increase the opportunity for each child to grow in a family environment, the benefit of the guardian for the maintenance of the child is significantly increased from 2017 to those who remain without parental care. On the other hand, from 1 July of that year, IT is planned to grant a rebate OF 25% to all families of children who are owners of “honorary family card”, for driving into regional transport.

The Centre for Demographics continues its activities and, in that year, intends to pay particular attention to the improvement of the pension system for children's parents and a number of other issues related to family support and the protection of children's interests in various areas of life.
