Celebrations of the Rēzekne municipality are presented on the eve of the public holidays
In the municipality of Rezekne, the Latvian Republic has become a tradition of proclamation of the Republic of Latvia with the highest award – the recognition article – to congratulate the most powerful, active, professional, creative and honest people. This year, the honourable award will be awarded to 43 municipalities – teachers, cultural and social workers, entrepreneurs, parish councils and local government administration employees, as well as other self-proclaimed people who have made significant contributions to the development of their parish, Rezekne municipality and all Latvia with their work.
The recognition articles, together with a gift – “annual coin” issued by the Latvian bank – were presented at the celebration event on 17 November AT Maltas High School concert hall, which only had been discovered a year ago. A choir “Ezerland”, an ethnic music group “runns”, a Maltas high school teacher anchor, and a popular singer, the musician's voice owner, Samantha Tina.
“A dream of freedom was implemented 98 years ago and the Republic of Latvia was proclaimed,” said President of Rēzekne District Council Monvīds Švarcs. “From that point of view, it might seem that it is simple, a fact recorded in the history books, but it must be understood that it could only happen if a series of circumstances materialized: there were people who had the idea of independence, were people who exercised this apparently overwhelming idea, and there were people who defended the idea. The population of these people was and is the brave Latvian people. Says that the brave people have a world. The world belongs to you, the people of Rezekne, who with their daily works and duties, with their public activity and their patriotism, are truly Rēzekne municipality and Latvia's pride. I wish the courage, the ability to act, and that luck and prosperity are your everyday partner!" said the Chairman of the Rēzekne council.
In addition to 43 Rēzekne District Actions, during the event, a Special State Fire-Fire and Rescue Service Latgale Region Brigade's gratitude for self-proclaimed action received Lendžu parish resident Vitalijs Aijāns, who saved the lives of a co-human in October of that year: “Lendžu”, only five months old Christian dad, fished in Viraudas Lake and fell into the water. The nearby Whitalia heard the shouts of the help, grabbed the raft, hurried off to help, and saved the drowning, the events of that day were presented by the commander of THE VUGD Rēzekne Division Maltas, Ilmārs Vaichuļs, giving thanks for the quick and unselfish action.
