The name of Rezekne is heard in Ventspils!
When driving past Feimaņiem, you can see actively running people every day, despite the swells or the case. They are the sports teacher Ivars Upenieks and his student Emile Verchinsky. By learning Feimaņu at elementary school, the young man came into a variety of competitions. In January of that year, when Emile started at Ludza's open athletic competition in closed spaces, he was noticed by coach Leonid.
In May, THE sports club Magnen invited them to participate in virtual running competitions. The competition took place in two categories: the most run kilometres during the month and five kilometres run.
The place had no meaning, but all the restrictions imposed by the government had to be respected, not running into the stadium! The 16-year-old young man, in competition with piegušajiem men, managed to win 3 rd place in the first category – 248.28 km (1 st place – Jurim Dombrovskis with 300.58 km, 2 nd place – Dainim Susejs – 265.16 km) and win 1 st place in the second category – run 5 km in 17 minutes in 10 seconds.
In an effort to follow the instructions of the trainer, Emile has achieved considerable results in a small period of time: in June, the International Sports School (Madona-Balvi-Jçkabpils) competitions 800 m – 1 st place; in July – in Saldus 1000 m of 25 participants – 12 th, Jelgava – 1500 m of 12 participants – 7 th place.
But Emily prefers the long disciplines.
On 22 and 23 July in Ventspils Latvian U18 and U20 championship, Emile was the only representative of Rezekne municipality. On the first day, 5000 m in discipline, with a result of 17:06 .18, Emile took 1 st. On July 23, in discipline 3000 m, running with experienced sports school athletes, with a great result - 9:29 .84, bronze was fought in an intense struggle!
