On 30 January, the students and teachers of the Primary School of Verham, within the framework of the “school bag” project, went to THE VEF cultural castle in Riga to visit one of the most innovative musical shows “Riekstkodis and i” (Nutcracker and I), which is the synthesis of the original live music performance, horeography, animation and complex new technologies.
Alexandra Dariescu, born Russian-born British pianist Alexandra Dariescu, produces a small girl Clara who wants to achieve her dream of being a pianist. The story is illustrated by the wonderful music of Peter Chiikovsky from the “Riekstkodis” ballet.
On the stage, there is a piano that is played by Darieska and Balerina Deziré Belantein (Désirée Ballantyne), who appears behind a transparent, almost invisible fabric screen. A digital animation image is projected on this screen that dances with the ballerina and creates a surprisingly vivid and realistic presence effect, thanks to the mastery of the ballerina and the ability of technology to accurately copy the trajectory of the ballerina movement and synchronize the dance steps with the animated heroic movement in real time. The quality of the technologies used by Riekstkodis and the eu is so surprising that when you look at the show, the people present have a feeling that animated images are truly alive.

After the show, the two artist-pianist Alexander Darieska and Balerina Deziré Belantein encouraged the visitors to take photographs with them.
Verham's pupils had very strong impressions on the show. The fifth grade school student Maria, who had visited the classic ballet “Riekstkodis”, said that she preferred classics: “I think the classic is better, i was in Latgale embassy GORE to the Latvian national Opera and the ballet exhibition“ Riekstkodis ”. But i enjoyed the chance to take pictures with the artists. '
Madara said from the 6 th grade that the performance liked it very much: “I liked it very much, it was very interesting to see a real ballerina dancing with animation images.” I'll be sure to read about Riekstcodes or watch the animation film to better understand. '
The 6 th grade school student Sarah has worked at a local youth theatre studio in the exhibition “Riekstkodis” and acknowledges that this kind of performance was very unusual: “very interesting.“ Well, I've been in the studio because it allowed me to better understand today's show. ”
The 5 th grade student, Anjay, who learned music, acknowledged that the most impressive was the musical performance: “the pianist played a very large musical sound, and it was one-off.” I'm going to play music myself, and i can say it's not so easy, even though maybe it looks simple. '
The teachers, on the other hand, admit that everything was very impressive. The informatics teacher Ilona said that it seemed very interesting to watch the animation: “it was extremely interesting.” We saw that the ballerina danced with the animation images. It was very synchronous. A huge effort has been made to achieve this. '
Students also visited THE VEF Museum where they saw what radio equipment was ever produced in Latvia.
