The Environmental Monitoring Bureau shall apply the strategic environmental impact assessment procedure for the spatial plan of Rezekne District

Decision No. 7 9 on the development of the Rēzekne District Planning was adopted at the Municipality of Rēzekne Municipality on 21 March 2019. On the basis of Article 5 of Cabinet Regulation No. 157 “Procedures for the Strategic Assessment of Environmental Impact Assessment”, the local government consulted the National Environmental Service of the State Environmental Service, the Health Inspectorate and the Environmental Protection Administration regarding the possible impact of the implementation of the spatial plan on the environment and human health. The results of the consultations of the institutions, as well as the submission of the local government, were sent to the State Bureau of Environmental Monitoring in accordance with the procedures laid down in the law.
On 21 June 2019, decision No 4-02/33 of the Environmental Monitoring Bureau was received in the municipality, where the Office applied the Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment (SIVN) procedure for the Rēzekne District Planning in assessing the documentation available to it. It aims to assess the potential impact of the implementation of the programming document on the environment and to involve the public in the consultation and decision-making process and to draw up proposals to prevent or reduce potential negative impacts. The strategic assessment will be performed during the development of the Rēzekne District Planning.
Information regarding the possibility of familiarisation with the draft environmental review of the strategic environmental impact assessment will be placed on the website of the municipality. Citizens will also be informed of the time and place of the public consultation meetings.
