Possibility for secondary students to apply for exchange curricula abroad

Brazil, France, Japan, USA, Italy – countries of the world where high school students have the opportunity to learn non-profit volunteers within the framework of the “AFS Latvia” intercultural programme. In these countries, the semester programme will begin as early as January and February 2018, so that the most active application will take place in August and September. Every high school student is invited not to miss and use THE opportunity offered by AFS Latvia to learn from one of these world countries.
“AFS Latvia” curricula are intended for secondary students aged 15-18. In order to apply, candidates must fill in the www.afs.lv of the application form, indicating the country in which they would like to learn, or contact “AFS Latvia” employees. Pietiekties to THE US and Italy to 25 August, to Brazil and France by 8 September, and to Japan by 1 October.
It is essential that the secondary school students who are happy to spend time in Japan may also apply for partial scholarships for training in Japan for the period of 2017/2018. It should be stressed that the Japanese scholarship is only possible by 15 August of that year, filling in the application questionnaire at www.afs.lv.
THE co-ordinator of the “AFS Latvia” organisation Vineta Liduma emphasizes that education abroad is particularly important for secondary students. “Intercultural exchange programmes for secondary school students provide an irrevocable life experience. Students learn the knowledge of a new language, learn the cultures of other peoples, gain friends from around the world. It is an experience that remains in memory throughout his life," said V.Luduma.
She also stresses that students who have gone into exchange programmes become more active in public life and engage in volunteering. This is demonstrated by the organisation's practice that most pupils returning from training abroad remain in the organisation to inspire their peers.
In intercultural exchange programmes, the main task and purpose of the participants is to learn to adapt to a foreign environment, learn to accept other people. In order to be able to adapt to the new environment, the pupil needs to know English at the level of the language of speech, preferably that the pupil is curious, adaptable and adaptable, full of initiatives.
