For the fifteenth year, on February 6, a worldwide Safer Internet Day (DID) is marked with a slogan “Safer Internet starts with you!”, calling on everyone to think about how we each take care of our security on the Internet and what our contribution is in creating a better Internet environment. On this day, Nautrēnu high school students with the teacher Maria Mazuri visited THE Nautrēnu parish library, where we talked together about how to feel safe in the virtual environment.
The Internet is a very grateful instrument for creating an illusion in the virtual environment about who we are and what we are doing, which are our relatives and friends, as we look like, we can fantasy completely any information and nobody, unless professional computer professionals, will know whether the information provided is true or is a lie. On the Internet we can pretend what we want, so say, live a double life. It should be recalled that the above applies not only to you but also to you to other people who can use the Internet environment and persons in it for abusive and illegal purposes.
Students were reminded of the security that would also be useful for other Internet users:

  • For your Internet site profiles, use secure passwords that will protect your profiles from breaking and leakage. In the profile settings, determine what information, including images, will appear on both the site and its external links. For security reasons, don't include any information in the profile that is not required from the site's administration, and which you don't want to disclose to other people.
  • If you come to a communication with a stranger in social networks or a chatter, in no case shall you disclose your personal data, telephone number, address of residence, or IP address to a stranger, and in no case send any photos to it, as no one can be safe in the Internet and know if the stranger is truly interested in you and wants to meet you, or if he has any other purpose, such as seducing, humiliation, or the establishment of any other information of your family, for abusive purposes. Do not disclose your personal information when playing Internet games or creating blogs;
  • Remember that the basic condition of safe Internet usage is anonymity: the less personal information you will disclose, the less interesting for Internet maligners you will look.

Students actively engaged in online test filling, what are you on the Internet? “The results were different, we were both rulers and axes and scraps.” Conclusion: All still need to think about their security in the virtual environment.
But what are you? Here are the options:
1. You're like a ruler, straight and rigid, which is seven times before you turn it. You're really an expert, and you can advise others. Sometimes it may happen that, because of your excessive precautions, a cool adventure also goes along the nose.
2. You're like a axe who chuckles and often doesn't think about the consequences. You're a life savor who always searches for the most convenient and fastest option, not the safest solution. If something is impossible here and now, you forget about it and go on. Of_course, there is nothing wrong, but if you don't be ready to change your habits, you can get into serious trouble.
3. You're like a chapel-blade who tries to do everything right (and often really do), but there's still some untouched Rob. Fortunately, your openness to knowledge is a great precondition for you to be seen as an expert soon.
Think and work on the Internet safely!
