“We're a little tribe, we'll be big as we want” (Rainis).
A special and unprecedented event was organised IN December Gaigalavas parish in the centre of the “Sherganas School”. As everyone in Latvia, we also wanted to do something big for Latvia's centuries. Therefore, the campaign “warming Latvia” was organised with the aim of collecting 100 stockings.
At first, our handmen said no, i don't have, i don't have anything to give, i don't have any ordinary, simple … when the Latvians' shy was overcome, a pair of stockings began to travel to the centre of activity, large and small, raspy and monochrome, simple and lace, daily and festive. The colour gamma covers all the colours of the rainbow: white, yellow, red, violet, blue, green, grey, etc.
When he looked at his piano chest, the closet shelves, and at the last minute rushing to complete the pair of socks he had started, 25 handmen responded to the call and did an unthinkable – a couple of socks had been collected in a few days!
Thank you very much, all the chaky admitters for the big work you've done and do. No handman brought less than two pairs of stockings, the average of 5, 6 pairs, the largest number of stocked socks is 23 pairs and 21 pair! For strength, health and eye brightness for the older members of the exhibition – Zinaid Silina, Janina Sviklei, Leontinne Buravcova. Thank you also for the youngest members – for Lāce, Ingai Bolshia, Christine Saleniece, that she continues to cultivate Latvian traditions and pass them on to future generations.
The stockings can be seen by 21 December, but some of the stockings are impatiently waiting for them to be packaged and someone will become a Christmas present, so do not leave the exhibition to the last minute.
