Known results of the 2020 Conservation Programme

In accordance with the Law on Financing of Scrual Heritage, the National Cultural Heritage Board has assessed the proposals submitted by the religious Union (church) for the inclusion of the sites of natural heritage in the financing programme of the Scrual Heritage, taking into account the decisions of the Council of Scrual Heritage, and on 11 March 2020 approved the financing programme for the financing of the sacral heritage for 2020.
In the framework of the programme, 23 500`000 are allocated to the Church of Lutherans, Catholics, Orthodox and Old Believers. In the framework of the 2020 programme, the funds are mostly allocated to the maintenance of buildings for the most necessary works – roof repair, renewal design and emergency situations.
This year, a record number of applications have been received – in total 108 projects have been submitted for EUR 4.43 million. In 2017, the Law on the Financing of Scrual Heritage was adopted, which established a programme for the preservation of the sacred heritage. In its first year of implementation, EUR 1 million was allocated to the restoration of 28 churches or the development of rescue documentation.
In 2020, four municipalities of Rezekne municipality will also receive the funding of the Safeguards Conservation Programme:
Community prayer of the Old Believers' Community for the development of the house restoration project 3 000,00
Community prayer of the campsite of the Old Believers for the restoration of the house windows 3 000,00
Pušas Catholic Church window restoration 6 000,00
For restoration of the Sarkanian bell tower, 20 000,00
In 2017, the Law on the Financing of Scrual Heritage, which established a programme for the preservation of the sacred heritage, was adopted with the aim of ensuring the preservation of cultural structures in the status of state-protected cultural monuments, including Latvian gods and religious rituals, as well as the preservation of the part of a national important cultural heritage for future generations.
With the beneficiaries of the contract, the management specialists will be contacted individually.
