Known results of the competition for the Rēzekne municipality motto and the results of the logo
On December 8, a competition announced by the municipality of Rezekne was concluded for the best municipality logo and the slogan or motto. 19 participants participated in the competition with their ideas, and 22 ideas were presented, how the Rēzekne municipality logo and 58 ideas could be heard, how the motto can be heard.
The work submitted was carefully evaluated by the Commission, which included: Chairman OF the Rēzekne District Council, Monvīds Švarcs, head of the development planning department Anna Jaudzema, head of the cultural division Inara Pleikšne, public relations specialist Madara Laksa, the site planner Brigita Arbidane, writer and publicist Anna Rancāne, Director of the art department of the Latvian Museum of Culture of Latgale, Inese Dundure and Director of the Rēzekne School of Higher School “interior design” Diana Apele.
The most interesting and prominent motto of the most relevant points was recognised “Rēzekne municipality — where Latgale souls” was sent by Christine Lubanes. As the author of the article writes, “In the municipality of Rezekne, there are warm and responsive people who take the guests with all the warmth of the heart and the vast soul. The Rēzekne municipality is driving to enjoy the taste of Latgale food, to spend rest in Latgalian traditions, in Latgalian culture and in rural mushrooms, so that is where Latgale souls are born.”
In reviewing the logo ideas submitted by 22, the Commission acknowledged that at present no sketch was completely cut off, so that the municipality could immediately use it in the information and presentation material, so it was decided that the logo competition won't be proclaimed, but the two best performers would receive promotion prizes and will continue to cooperate with them to improve the logo. The Commission recognised Christine Lubans and Wells Vilnius as the best logo authors.
