The municipality of Rezekne will increase the neonatal benefit

The social service of Rezekne has prepared and transferred to the council members the draft regulations regarding social aid benefits in the municipality of Rezekne. The rules are expected to be particularly favourable to the new families as a result of a significant increase in the newborn benefit.

Unfortunately, the members of the “harmony” of the Socialist Party in the opposition have publicly disseminated false information that the majority of the Council rejected “Harmony” 's suggestion to increase the newborn benefit to EUR 650. In fact, the members of the authority have already stressed that there are new binding rules in the development process, which provide for both the increase in the newborn benefit and the revision of the rest of the benefits, since the mere decision of the council of the council to increase the benefits cannot be increased. At the same time, the members of the position, in economic terms, recalled that the increase in benefits should be commensurate with budgetary opportunities rather than simply a fair amount. In addition, primary care should be taken of social risk groups.

One of the options currently being examined by the municipality is for families with a baby to provide monthly support for a year and a half, that is, to divide the newborn allowance into 18 monthly payments of approximately EUR 40 (total 720 euro). In this way, the new families would have additional income to be allocated monthly, for example, for the payment of electricity bills or for babies' hygiene products. In addition, this would prevent, so-called “benefit tourism”, where the family is redeclared in the municipality where the benefit is higher before the baby is born, but immediately after receipt of the allowance, he returns to his true residence. The new parents will be surveyed in the near future to understand how the benefits of receiving a benefit would be more convenient and useful.

The municipality of Rēzekne is a member of the new family and, as far as possible, is looking for different ways to support them. On the other hand, a newborn allowance for the first child in the Rēzekne country is only 100 euro (200 euro if both parents are declared in Rezekne), but in the city, the “harmony” of the long-standing party is somehow unhurried with suggestions to increase the benefit, even if it is equivalent to the amount of the Rēzekne Municipality allowance (EUR 150 or Eur 300 if both parents are declared in the municipality).
