On November 20, “Small Business Day” will be held throughout Latvia

On November 20, this year, a traditional “small business day” event will be held throughout Latvia, which plans to participate in more than 4 700 companies.
“Small Business Day” aims to encourage and encourage citizens to support small and medium-sized entrepreneurs. On the website of the “Support Small Business!” www.mazabiznesadiena.lv, stakeholders are invited to look at a digital map where small business companies participating in the initiative can be found.
There will also be a seminar “Small Business Day in Riga and throughout Latvia,” who will be able to follow the LETA video live on the Internet, as well as to explore the more friendly municipalities that will be determined in collaboration with Riga Business School.
Similarly, every local government is invited to organise special events so that citizens can learn more about their entrepreneurs, while entrepreneurs get new skills and contacts.
“Small business forms the basis of Latvia's economic structure and employment. In turn, the most active and dynamic companies are engaged in our movement. It is pleasant to note that last year almost half of the“ support for small business ”participants have increased turnover, 56 percent increased profits, 14 percent of employees have increased. We are trying to create new support instruments for these dynamic companies in order to promote their growth, as well as through these companies – the growth of all state and local governments,” explains President of Latvia's business Union Board Eduards Philippovs.
“Small Business Day” was first held in November 2013. It is organised by the Latvian business Union. This year, Latvian Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Confederation (established in 1996, representing 7 employers' organisations) and Latvian Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Forum (founded in 2012, representing more than 200 companies and businessmen). The Union is the only representative of Latvian SME interest in the European Union - a member of the European Industry, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Association (hereinafter - UEAPME) and provides a permanent dialogue with the European Commission IN THE field OF SMEs.
On the other hand, the “Small Business Day” initiative, in which “Small Business Day” takes place, won the European Commission's national award for “promotion of entrepreneurship” and the Ministry of Economics recognition in 2014.
The “Support for Small Business!” initiative is strengthened BY “SEB banka”, while the supporters are “Lursoft IT”, U.S. embassy in Latvia, VAS “Latvijas pasts”, Riga City Council, SIA “Health Centre 4”, SIA “P.R.A.E. public relations”, “Latvian newspaper”, Delfi, “Otkritij gorod”.
