Projects

By inviting the people of Latvia, organisations and everyone to think and express their views on the country in which we want to live and what we see the future of our planet and Europe, the Repartmental Coordination Centre (PCC) publishes the European Commission's reflection document “Towards a sustainable Europe by 2030', in anticipation of opinions by this year 12 March.
The European Commission has come up with a reflection document and its view on how the European Union (EU) could implement UN Sustainable Development Goalsby ensuring the sustainability of our planet and highlighting Europe as a leading global region towards a sustainable economy and a better future, also for future generations. This reflection document is the basis for further discussion on the sustainable development and future of Europe before the European Parliament elections and the designation of the new European Commission.
With the intention of building Europe as the most prosperous region of sustainable development with a coherent economic development, the document presents a series of proposals on how THE EU and its Member States are to pursue THE implementation of THE UN Sustainable Development Goals. Including in the context of a comprehensive EU Sustainable Development Strategy and a framework of EU policies for the next programming period, which will also have a significant impact on Latvia as a Member State of THE EU.
The paper discusses the EU and global sustainability challenges, future policies, initiatives and paradigms (beliefs, perception) in THE EU and its Member States, describing the role OF THE EU's foreign and security policy in the implementation of sustainability, as well as highlighting future development scenarios. By expressing the opinion, we are calling for attention to be paid and indicated if there are significant European and global challenges that are particularly important for Latvia and are not included in the document, as well as which of the future development scenarios for Latvia should be supported.
We will use the opinions received on the proposals contained in the reflection document to prepare Latvia's position on the European general affairs Council, as well as in discussions and work on Latvian National Development Plan 2021-2027 development. Opinions and proposals for additions will be assessed by a consultative working group initiated BY THE CC on Sustainable Development Goals, which in spring 2018 co-operated with the Latvian Voluntary Report “Report of Latvia TO THE UN on the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals in development.
Please send proposals to e-mail address: mara.simane@pkc.mk.gov.lv or by post, at the address of the Repartmental Coordination Centre, Freedom Boulevard 36, Riga, LV-1520, until this year 12 March! More information on the reflection document ON THE PKC website: https://ej.uz/EU2030.
