We invite you to get involved in the “nature you bring, take it!”

The World Natural Fund (PDF) and the Nature Protection Board (hereinafter – the Office) invite entrepreneurs, land owners, municipalities and any institution that manages natural objects and organizes events in nature, to engage in the campaign “in nature as you bring it, take it!” and deploy informative signs at the site of the garbage.

By placing the first twenty wafers with a call for waste, not leaving it to nature, we wanted to draw public attention to the problem and launch a broader discussion with the world's natural resources. At the moment, our goals are even more ambitious – we want the idea of the campaign “to go into the nature of what we bring!” hears the whole of Latvia, also the random visitors of natural trails who would otherwise not know about it. We have therefore made a further 2000 new information memos, which we will gradually deploy in other management sites. We hope that other institutions, municipalities and businesses will also follow, thus expressing support for the idea, ”says Deputy Director-General of Administration in the field of nature protection Gunta Gabrāne.
By surveying the nature trails where the mark has already been installed and removed, the campaigners have concluded that the amount of waste disposed of in nature has not increased, on the contrary. However, small waste is still in the natural trails. It should be recalled that in a large part of the natural trail it is not possible to enter the transport of waste management companies and employees of the administration, in parallel with their direct work duties, have to deal with the collection of waste. Similarly, the waste can also be accessed by animals – they injure, poisoning and often die.
PDF Director Janis Rozītis emphasizes that the idea of the campaign is not unique – similar problems with waste are experienced by many institutions and businesses, including messages in nature in the natural sites of various institutions and businesses, and can already be observed, but so far the idea of bringing waste along with it, rather than leaving the natural trail infrastructure in Latvian society, has also failed to grow. “There is no one responsible here.” In order to achieve the desired result, you need to work together, ”invites J. Rozītis to join the campaign.
It has been previously reported that THE PDF and the administration, with the goal of changing the behaviour of the population, launched a campaign in the autumn of that year, thanks to the support of the Latvian Environment Protection Fund, “in nature as you bring it!”. The organisers invited people to bring their packaged packaging and other waste out of their natural areas. Similarly, in the course of the campaign, waste streams were also removed in individual natural trails.
