We are invited to participate in the Latvian rural export club event on 24 May in the guest house “Green Island”
The “Latvian Rural Consultation and Education Centre” (LLC) and the “Latvian Rural Forum” (LLF) with David Berry initiative to encourage existing and emerging economic operators to think about exports of their products.
The rural export club initiative operates at two levels: national and regional. At national level, it is a steering group involving representatives of various organisations, institutions and companies who work on a voluntary basis in close cooperation with a view to providing support to entrepreneurs outside Riga within their respective competences. Coordinator groups are set up at regional level. They comprise regional representatives of LLCC and local action groups as well as other local development promoters.
All stakeholders – artists, domestic producers, craftsmen, farmers, all those who intend to start business, existing entrepreneurs and others – are expected to participate in export clubs without membership fees.
Meetings of the first rural export club have already been held in Ozolnieki, Valmiera, 17 May will be in Saldus, but 24 May - Rezekne. Currently, the export club programme is developed for ten months, each subject to a specific topic – capacity analysis, market and product research, road to market, opportunity creation, sales rules, legislation, documentation preparation, finance and insurance, operation and development.
The idea of rural export clubs is based on the experience of the British Cambrian region, where a similar principle of initiative in various crisis situations, bringing together entrepreneurs and citizens, helped them cooperate, discuss and share ideas how to diversify their activities in a particular area, thereby improving the economic situation of the region.
