Training in Rēzekne calls for literacy

The association “Co-operation Platform” and the Rēzekne Rural Women's Association “Sidrabrasa”, in cooperation with the British Council (British Council) representation in Latvia, organise a training cycle under the project “Latvian Culture Ambassadors Academy 1”.

In the first days of February - 2 and 3 February 2019 in the small hall of the municipality of Rezekne (Rezekne, Liberation Alliance 95A), employees of State and local government, cultural and educational institutions, representatives of associations and foundations, as well as all interested persons whose daily work is associated with people of different nationalities, invited to participate in free training “Stories and literacy as means of social and ethnic integration”. Two-day training will be held at 11.00 to 17.00
In addition to performing professional duties, the employees of the public institutions, representatives of local governments, social workers, associations and representatives of foundations and international organisations are essential to improve the communication skills and to learn new methods in solving the problems of society integration through stories. The development of participants' narrative skills, the development of contact skills and the acquisition of story-based strategies in various situations will ensure the promotion of social, cultural and ethnic integration.
The programme will present the experience of Latvia and other countries in encouraging intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding, reducing social and ethnic stress. Participants will gain insight into other land folklore, especially those genres and narrative strategies that can be used in daily communication, events and activities - say, say, myths, legends, anecdotes, stories, and memory stories, biographical stories, etc. There is also an insight into Latvian folklore, including the types and stereotypes of different nationalities, as well as how folklore and other industry researchers interpret these texts.
Lectures will be conducted by Latvian cultural ambassador, ethnopsychologist, folklore metodian, storyteller Māra Mellene.
The training is free. The number of places is limited!
