Open foundation for “Rural Economic Development in Rezekne District” project competition

On 22 February, a seminar on the announcement of the project competition was held for the “Rural Economic Development in Rēzekne District” (LEARN). The objectives of the project are to promote the activities of the population in the area, contributing to improving the quality of life, the development of entrepreneurship and the reduction of unemployment. They have the opportunity to raise funds to start their business and implement business ideas, as well as to develop an existing economic activity.
The seminar was attended by more than 50 participants from the entire municipality, obtaining the most important information for project development. The total budget for the project tender is EUR 22 000, however the maximum possible aid per project is EUR 3000. It is important to note that applicants must provide co-financing of at least 10% of the total amount of the project.
Eligible costs are:

• the purchase of equipment, equipment by which the product will be produced, processed, sorted, built, moved (excluding road), prepared for storage, packaged, stored or will be supplied;
• inventory, equipment delivery and installation costs;
• purchase of specific computer software;
• purchase of office machinery where the costs do not exceed 10% of the total eligible amount of the project, except where the computer hardware is necessary for the production process;
• preparation of marketing materials;
• construction materials for repair works of manufacturing or service facilities;
• VAT if the aid applicant is not registered in the register of TAXABLE persons.

Within a month, by 23 March, it is necessary to develop its own project and submit it personally to THE LEARN Foundation, the Liberation Alliance 95C. The projects submitted will be assessed in the composition of seven members of the Commission, analysing the development of the business perspective in the long term, as well as the competency of the applicant itself and other criteria.
