On 11-12 March, Rēzekne Municipality District of Maltas and Vērēmiem took part in the open chess tournament. Among the 30 players are other athletes from Balvi, Rugar, Tilj, Carlos and Rezekne.

The participants were divided into three groups. Time control: 45 minutes per batch for each, 7 consecutive DAYS after FIDE fast chess rules. The organisers - prize sports centre and Tilja High School assisted judges of judges from Maltas - national category Judge Peter Schostaks and Anatolijs Jasinskis. The lottery was carried out by a computer program.

In the girls' tournament, who fell off after the doughnut system, Jekaterina Smirnov from Rezekne, with an absolute score of 7 points, was the best. Silver medal Christian Georgia Rēzekne is led by BJSS. Third place for Rebecca Lochmelei from Tilj. Two girls in five points.

10 young chess men participated in the boys' tournament. Gold medal was malathed Edward Schteel (Rēzekne District BJSS)who won 6.5 points from 7. A half-point less and a second place for Arthur's black, the third – Andis Biksāns (4 pukti), both of Tilj.

In the men's tournament, among the 12 players with 6 points from 7 best was Caspar zircenis from Balvi. Second place for malathion Dainim Vilnius (5,5 p). Bronze medal for Belarusian Edgar Gabranov (4,5 p).

The organisers thanked the sports school of Rezekne for help with the inventory and trial, as well as planned to create this tournament as an annual event with a broader number of participants.
