THE EP Information Office announces THE EUROSCOLA competition for classes 10-12. Prize - Opportunities for a paid trip to the European Parliament in Strasbourg (France).

ON THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT
The European Parliament is the only European Union institution elected by direct elections. The last elections were held on 24 May 2014. The European Parliament, together with THE COUNCIL of THE EU, approves the laws affecting the daily lives of more than 500 million people in all Member States of the European Union and, of course, also in Latvia. Latvia is currently represented by 8 Members in the European Parliament. The European Parliament is taking part in all important decision-making in the European Union.
More information on the European Parliament's activist can be found on the website: www.europarl.lv and www.europarl.europa.euas well as THE EP information office in Latvia's social networks: www.draugiem.lv/europarl, www.facebook.com/Eiroparlaments, www.twitter.com/EP_Riga.
ON THE COMPETITION
We invite students of classes 10-12 to participate in the competition to strengthen the interest and awareness of young people of EU processes, decision-making and the importance of these decisions in the lives of each person! At the same time, this competition is a great opportunity to learn more about the architecture of THE EP, the work of Members, to explore young people from other Member States, and to show the creativity and strategic thinking of students.
EUROSCOLA discussions are held in small international groups, thus allowing students to understand that foreign language is not an obstacle to successful communication but a way to learn more about others and understand their problems.
The announced EUROSCOLA Regulation in Latvia is valid until 15 May 2016, meaning that schools, youth centres or youth NGOs can send works in accordance with this Regulation by 15 May 2016.
Dates of evaluation of the works submitted:
15 March 2016 - School visits in Strasbourg in autumn 2016
15 May 2016 - School visit to Strasbourg in winter 2016
Please note that the interest and applications shown in schools are much, so EUROSCOLA winners are sent to the simulation game in Strasbourg for approximately half a year.
