SIA Daileko The Rēzekne municipality conducts Feimaņu parish marshes with the cultivation of low bushes and cultivated cranberries. The total ogulation area is 52 ha, a further 11 ha is planned to be planted this year. We have to think about restoration all the time because the cranberries are intensively produced for only 10 years, and in this respect the brushes are more profitable - they are produced up to 40 years. In the first years, the quantity of berries increases, but it is later necessary to consider the restoration of plantations.
The read berries are sold in supermarket networks through the cooperative society “Baltic berry company”, which brings together six breeders of blackberries and cranberries from all over Latvia. The larger berries, which are read by hand, are sold at a more expensive price, the smaller ones being read mechanically and cheaper. A large proportion of the highest quality berries are sold in Sweden, even after the others have a demand both in Latvia and in Europe and China.
In order to be the result, it is necessary to work in a complex, so that the fruit and cranberry plants are purchased IN THE US and Canada, the soil quality is checked by special analyses, as the taste of the berries is dependent on the characteristics of the soil. Workers employed in the company are prepared, combed, pitted, followed by soil quality, reading berries. In order to enrich the new plants, they must be planted in a wet time - in May and August. The most active season when the berries are read continues from August to October, but the company thinks how to work throughout the year, so the relatively empty winter season deals with the preparation of a high-quality fireplace, while the summer is the idea to prepare a birch broom for the fans. Similarly, the company is thinking of the purchase of chilling equipment, because the quality of berries, especially mellows, is important. A member of the Co-operative Board and Executive Director Valdis Iehe, who, on a day-to-day basis, Mayor of Salaspils, says that there is a great deal of satisfaction in working directly in this sector: “very positive that we are in a natural, fresh air in our day-to-day work!” And if everything is going to be done and there's a good berry harvest, it's great!
