Seminar “Latvian Libraries - European Library family”

20.06.2018

Projects

On 15 June, the librarian of the Rēzekne Region went out to Riga, visiting both the European Union's house, which provided extensive information on the European Union and Latvia's participation in it, and visiting the Latvian National Library of Natural Sciences and the Latvian National Library, which surprised the range of modern service systems, interior and services offered.
The trip program was interesting and saturated. At the visit of the European Union, the librarian met three presentations: “European money in Europe and Latvia 2020 +”, “information campaign #EUandME” and “what happens in Europe?”.
They then went to the new and modern library of the University of Latvia. This library is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The books can be taken home, transferred or extended at any time using self-service equipment. Readers shall be equipped with adjustable lighting and electrical contacts. You can print, copy, and scan for yourself in the library. Reader jobs are also arranged for convenient holidays.
The Latvian National Library (LNB) was surprised by its wide range, the modern interior and the range of services offered. THE main task OF THE LNB is the creation of a national literature stock, permanent storage and the provision of long-term availability. The main focus of the library activity is support for higher education, research and lifelong learning, activities and literature for children reading.
