Announces the selection of EU funds projects for research of practical significance

The Central Finance and Contract Agency (CFLA) launches a selection of open project applications in the European Union (EU) Funds programme of the European Union (EU) Fund for the support of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) for practical orientations. In the third round of the selection, the total available public funding is eur 13,3 million, of which ERDF funding of more than eur 10,4 million.
The adoption OF project applications IN THE CFLA shall take place from. 12 August to 21 October. Project applicants may be scientific institutions and merchants, where support for research of practical significance can be obtained in both economic and non-economic projects.
With ERDF co-financing, economic operators will be able to carry out feasibility studies, basic and industrial research, experimental development, the protection of technological rights and the dissemination of knowledge generated within the project in the form of learning, publications or knowledge and technology transfer.
The objective of the measure is to support research that contributes to the achievement of the objectives of the Smart Specialisation Strategy of Latvia, the development of scientific and technological human capital and the creation of new knowledge to improve the competitiveness of the economy.
It is intended to support research projects that contribute to the development of the economic transformation and growth priorities identified by the Smart Specialisation Strategy of Latvia and the development of such specialisation areas: knowledge-intensive bioeconomy, biomedicine, medical technology, biopharmaceuticals and biotechnology, smart materials, technologies and engineering systems, smart energy as well as information and communication technologies.
The maximum public funding of one project is eur 600 000but the minimum amount of public funding - eur 30 000.
For the non-economic project, the maximum public funding intensity is 92.5 per cent (ERDF and national budget). For projects related to economic activity, the maximum amount of public financing is 25 – 70 per cent and is determined according to the activities envisaged in the project and the type of project applicant.

THE ERDF support for the implementation of the project is intended to “increase the research and innovative capacity of Latvian scientific institutions and the ability to attract external financing by investing in human resources and infrastructure” within the framework of Measure 1.1.1.1. “practical orientation studies”.
